High speed stability

Hi, I've got a Yaris sedan (not s). I purchased the car new and have had it for two weeks. Overall, I'm happy with the car. However, I'm noticing that at highway speeds of 65mph, the car feels a little rubbery. I've got 15" rims and 185/60 tires, that came with the car. Have any of you experienced this and if so, how have you addressed it?

a lot of people here will probably say that a new set of rims, larger in width, and new, stickier tires will make the most difference. as for me, i went with lowering my car and adding a strut bar.

I think some have also said inflating your tires to 5 PSI over what's listed on the driver's door helps.

If they're heavier, yes. By how much? That's the real question.

IMO, "high-speed stability" is relative to what you're considering "high-speed" to be. I've had my Yaris @ around 100 mph, but IMO, that's not really all that "high-speed". I've been ~170 mph in my Camaro Z28. To be honest, if 100-120 is what you're referring to, your stock tires should be fine. Any faster than that, and you'll need to start buying the appropriate speed-rated tires, and maybe wider tires for cornering...

Theoretically rolling resistance may increase, especially in rain/snow because you have to displace more liquid.....in real life probably not.

I've just installed my new rims and tires, I went from the stock 15 inch steel rims to 16x7 with 205/50/16's and the difference when on the Interstate at 70mph is amazing, it isn't as darty in the wind, its a much more stable car now at speed. With the old rims and tires I didn't feel comfrortable in the Yaris when commuting, this upgrade has made all the difference in the world.
