Toyota Belta (JDM Yaris) stock HID Headlight project

Hi everyone! This is my first time to post on this forum and hoping I am doing it the right way.

I am currently building a JDM inspired Yaris Sedan, and I am keeping it as JDM as possible. I have the stock HID headlights from Japan sitting on my shelf for a couple of months now. As the last time I compared them with the stock headlights, they seem to have larger diameter wires.

Was there anyone here who successfully installed one of these?

What is the part number for the ignition key light ring?

I think you'll find that factory Yaris lights run something like a 10a fuse, whereas the HID lights will be 15a.

I used to have JDM HID headlights in my third gen Yaris and I ran them off the 10a fuse without blowing a fuse, but if you're at all concerned, I'd be inclined to run new relays just to be safe.

Thanks for your input. Have you noticed any difference on the wire diameter on yours? And you also had to change the connector yea?

I can't recall diameter as it's been a couple of years. I had new plugs with pigtails that I spliced into the existing wiring that went to the h4 plugs. However, I ran my earth wires directly to the chassis. So the only wires I had to worry about were the two positive switched ones going to low and hi bean.

I'd be looking at running separate relays and new wiring. You'll also likely find that the JDM headlights are positively switched as the high and low beams need to be on at the same time when hi is activated. You'll want to check how your current lights are wired.

For the mean time, I decided to keep the headlights until I'll find the original harness from Japan. If I won't be able to source one, I will try to work on it with connector conversion and changing wiring diameter if found needed.

I will surely update this thread in the future once I have completed the project, for the community's reference.

Just cut your current connectors off and solder the new with the old?

I did this on my old Lexus... as I bought some Kouki headlights & corner lights... had to splice and dice the connectors as only one matched the USDM versions.

I kept spare wires disabled (as the new lights had AFS, but my car did not).
