Railroad tracks?

How fast do y'all drive your new Yaris over railroad tracks? I have to cross tracks everyday where I live at and I try and slow down to like zero and cross them:rolleyes:! But, when other cars are coming behind,they get really pissed off when I slow way down,so I'm just wondering what a safe speed for crossing tracks, is for the Yaris? I don't want to knock the car out of wack and mess up the alignment and all that good stuff. I've really never had a little car like this, I love it but I"m used to a truck and I"m just being caustious,but am I being to caustious?

instead of slowing down for RR tracks, give it a little punch just before your front tires are going to cross...it will shift some weight off of the front of the car and to the back, and just lets the springs eat the bumps :)

thats how i do it ne ways..and yes people slowing down at tracks annoys me also :)

Yea, i hate when ppl slow down for tracks. I can kinda understand when i see nice cars slow down a couple of miles an hour but please dont come to a stop.
I pass 2 sets of tracks on my way to work, you dont know how many times i just hop over a lane, dont even have to speed up to pass em :) or i lay on my horn and they look at me like i'm doing something wrong.

Its funny too when you see like a 1993 ford escort slow down to like 10 mph and you know your shocks and springs cost more than their car, lol.

petition your city/rail owners to put in jumps on either side of the tracks, so you can really dukes of hazard them...

I slow right down...With the short wheelbase combined with the lowering springs, I don't want to kill the car...

Long term going over rough crossings fast will have many detrimental effects on the suspension, and transmission...People in this world could benefit from a great deal more patience, and if a cautious driver pisses them off they should go and talk to a counsellor...

Going over railroad tracks slowly is the correct method. Of course, these days everybody is in a hurry. Don't let them bother you. You cross at the speed YOU feel comfortable doing.

Cmon, its rail road tracks not the grand canyon :). Its not about patience, unless the tracks are extremely bad theres no point to really slow down.
And i dont get how this will effect the transmission.

I used to have a beefed up 97 Trans Am and never slowed down for tracks and had it for 50k miles, no problems at all and the springs on that were a hell of alot harder than the Yaris.
