Hey what's up everyone. Just had a quick question. Does anyone know how much power you can get from the Yaris keeping It NA? I know there isn't much aftermarket out there just yet. You have AEM claiming a solid 5hp from just there CAI. I just a lil skeptical on this. I know that TEIN got 106 Wheel HP and a stock Yaris makes that @ the flywheel. I'm guessing with a real good tune, you could probably get 120 @ the wheel. Anyone know If this is possible, or is anyone making that much yet. Let me know what you think. Thanks:thumbsup:

125 crank hp was the highest Ive ever seen on the 1nz n/a. The key with n/a motors is air flow... Oh this was on a 5speed tranny. Not sure about the auto hp..

The key problem with this engine is the electronic management, Toyota made it a pretty tough nut to crack. Once tuners are more familiar with getting piggyback or replacement ECUs to work, we can probabbly see some nice increases... Individual throttle bodies, aggressive cams, better fuel mapping, all those things will come, one day...

This was my old Yaris :iono: with throttle bodies 38mm, TRD cams, DTA ECU and more things ! 172 hp at 7.800 rpm !!!!

Not bad for a 1.5 litre NA.....

Oh, I thought he was talking about just bolt ons, etc. Did you rebuild the motor "Kekropas". In that case you will have to upgrade the cams, valve train, springs, retainers, built head etc..

Are u talking about rebuilding the motor to get more n/a or just bolt-ons??? "hatchbackkid82"

the best idea i've seen for NA power is to snag a prius block and use the yaris head. the advantage: the 1nz-fxe (prius) has a higher compression ratio, when compaired to the 1nz-fe...never seen it done, but it is a good idea.

read the details here

http://www.clubxb.com/forums/f28/6433-motor-swap-2/

(here's the good stuff...copy/pasted from the link above)

...I have no doubt that running the 12:1 compression achieved by swapping to the 1NZ-FXE block with the 1NZ-FE head would net closer to 150+ hp to the wheels with a proper tune. And again, the engine management is the most expensive part. The 1NZ-FXE can easily be found for less than $600. The rest of the parts are already on your car. Save for the engine management. The stand alone engine management can be pretty cheap if you do something like Mega Squirt, or up to about $1500-$2000 for a commercial stand alone unit like AEM or Haltech....

some how i doubt a 172hp NA 1.5l yaris would be much fun to commute on the street with...gotta make sacrifices somewhere though i suppose :D

Kekropas' car rocked!:headbang:

Very very fast car! There are some videos on Ebay from the Hellenic Yaris Club Trackday, where he tested it.

i heard JUN cams give good 20hp..
E85 flex fuel overboost with ECU tuning gives 20-30hp (upgrade injectors 2zz or 1jz)

i have header, extension-mid pipe and intake..hosnestly i dont think i gained more than 10hp..lol...

8 years later...

Yes, Jason I believe was able to squeeze around 150ish out of his H Prod yaris.. He uses Jun Cams and AEM EMS. Also a bad ass custom header.
