View Full Version : Is the front undertray essential? (damaged badly)

I discovered when I heard an alarmingly loud scraping whilst moving that the very front of the undertray is hanging off as half of the clips / screws have perished. I attach a few photos:

It seems I am presented with 3 options:

1) buy a new undertray or maybe just this front part
2) ditch it (probably undesirable)
3) somehow repair the current one but not clear how as some of it has actually snapped at critical points (see pics)

All insights appreciated, cheers

Mine came adrift some time ago. I didn't have anything with me to tie it up until I got home, so wore some holes in it.

Apparently, the retaining clips are easily damaged, and then fall out. The dealer service department advised me to use cable ties rather than the clips to reinstall it.

Basically, the tray is there to reduce road grime and spray into the engine compartment.

I might help to keep the air flowing through the radiator instead of around it.

Thanks for the replies. I'll go the cable tie route and see if I can make it work.

i personally removed it and trimed the bottom portion of the fender liner, im lowered though, but as a added bonus it makes servicing the front of the car sooo much easier

Mine was pieced together with drill holes and zip-ties for a long time. It eventually gave up on life and I trashed it. Probably drove 30-40k miles with no issues.
