I am about to do a drain and fill on the transmission on my 2010 Yaris.

From what I have read, by detaching the transmission cooling hoses where they attach to the tranny another quart or so of fluid drains out of the tranny cooling portion of the radiator.

It would be better to drain the tranny cooling portion of the radiator in order to replace more fluid, correct? Would draining the tranny cooling portion of the radiator create any complications? Do I need to operate the tranny to get the drained fluid back into the cooling portion of the radiator and then add more fluid? Thanks for any replies.

I'd just drain and drive and drain again.
