Like I’ve been telling you, this car has 191,000 miles on it. The steering wheel started having tight spots. I’m too debilitated with Parkinson’s to do anything about it so we got my brother-in-law Larry who is a freelance BMW mechanic to look at it.

I was afraid it was the rack, but it was a u joint in the steering wheel to rack shaft that seized. Larry just spray it with some lubricant and that The trick did.

Larry also found a bad tie rod end and one of the CV joint boot is ready to go.

So the car will be a little work, but not enough to scrap it.

seems like reasonable problems for that mileage

Yes were very happy with it. All that’s gone wrong in 17 years is Two water pumps and an alternator. Although the alternator was exciting as it was smoking with the ignition on!

Incidentally I Used to change the oil four times a year back in 2005 when you could get a case of oil at Pep Boys for six dollars. But when the oil got more expensive I switch to three times a year. Maybe the last five years I change it every 5000 miles.

All conventional oil no synthetic.

I now use ace brand oil at Ace Hardware It’s on sale in June or July every year for $2.50 a quart.

My gift to you!
