Hi, First post here :)
Well I have a Toyota Yaris and when I remove the ignition key its speedometer (digital) doesn't turn off and it's always drawing current from the battery.
I disassembled the speedometer and tested it on the bench and when I disconnect the key wire the current is at 17mA and it doesn't turn off.
Does anyone have any solutions?

How many amps does the speedo draw?

I think it's normal when everything is working it should be between 200 mA to 150 mA but as you can see from the images when it's on it's 180 mA and when the ignition is off it continues with 170mA and it should go to 0 after 1/2 seconds.

It possible to put an on off switch in the wire going to the speedo?

I had a motorcycle with an electric fan that would overheat in city Traffic but was fine on the highway. So I put it on off switch to turn the fan on as soon as I got in traffic.

Bingo no more overheating!
