Huh?
"But the 2008 Scion xD is the one that comes out on top for us."
Who chose Honda?
Yeah, the xD looks huge by itself because of that high beltline, but it's only 4 inches longer than the Yaris.
This article states the xD will start "about $15,080", while another Edmund's article says, "Unlike the xA, the 2008 xD will be tough to overlook. Particularly if, as expected, Scion keeps the car's base price down near $14,000 when it goes on sale this August."

Another funny thing from this article:
"A single dial displays both the speedometer and tachometer functions, and we'd prefer a more informative and comprehensive display."

So basically, the guys at Edmund's NEED the gauges to tell them which is MPH and which is RPMs, because they haven't driven enough cars to know what those gauges should look like. And really big numbers for their age-induced failing eyesight.

That is really one of the ugliest stock speedos Ive ever seen. I can foresee xD drivers bitching about this on the many Scion message boards a year from now and many DIY's about replacement of this.

Honda hasn't been trying to push an earth destroying, resource wasting, compensating, crush your neighbor truck like the Tundra. Honda hasn't had any issues with the batteries for their forthcoming PHEV. The Honda Insight and Civic Hybrid both beat the Prius for real-world mileage. Honda hasn't fought against raising the CAFE standards or reducing emissions like Toyota has via their membership in AAMA. Honda has had less than half the recalls over the last few years that Toyota has.
Even the reliability numbers for recent years put both Honda and Hyundai right behind Toyota.
Just because the Yaris comes out a hair's width ahead of the Fit in most tests doesn't mean that Honda as a whole isn't producing some good, desired and reliable vehicles.
As a matter of fact, despite our past love for Toyota and due to Toyota's anti-green, anti-consumer maneuvering over the last few months, the wife and I have decided that our next vehicle will likely be a Honda. As much as I want a PHEV, even if Honda's release of one will be a year later than Toyota's we'll wait for it.

Wouldn't that be a horizontal cupholder?
Besides, I think it looks more like a radar screen for my FitFinder torpedoes!

The XD looks good....hope the Yaris doesn't start evolving/growing like that though. Seems like the manufacurers are continuing on their everyone wants 'more' model changes. At least the Yaris is no longer in the same category as the Scion (by my standards anyway) so they will not directly compete.

The Fit definitely has the xD beat in the looks department but I'm still a diehard Toyota guy. The xD needs a nice set of alloys instead of those huge hubcaps that look like they came off a Camry.
In my mind, the Fit is a car I'd choose because of the price, and the Scion xD is a car I might choose based on the car's merits. I'm convinced that anyone who buys an xD will feel like they're getting away with something. It's a special car that just happens to be budget-priced.
thats from the article, i woudl get a yaris for cheaper, oh wait i did
