Hi everyone,
This is a great forum!
I had a 2006 Yaris RS hatchback and used a Rove Dashcam (front-facing) which is great. Unfortunately, I got rear-ended at a Yield sign and the 2006 is a write-off.
I am purchasing a 2018 Yaris LE and want to mount the same Rove Dashcam in it. I have question though....In the manual for the 2018 it says that due to the forward facing sensors, you shouldn't mount anything within 4" of the front sensors. This would put the dashcam almost centre of the windshield and obstruct the view.
I have been renting a Toyota Camry in the meantime, with those same forward sensors and I mounted the Rove just below them. It doesn't seem to interfere, but I suspect that if you are using the sensors for forward collision warning etc. they may be deactivated and that it why no problems.
Before I mount my dashcam in the newer Yaris I wanted to get people advice and experience if they have mounted theirs just underneath the sensors and not the 4" lover?
I appreciate any advice or examples of what other people may have run into with those forward sensor and dashcam directly underneath. Thanks everyone!
