Yaris gets me & passengers from point A to B.
I hope to fit a hitch rack to carry my bikes on the Yaris.
Anyone else ride motorcycle, scooter, bicycle or ebike?

I started riding motorcycles in 1982. In the 80s and 90s I rode my bicycle 100 miles a week on average. N 95 I rode my Bicycle from Haddon Township To Cobleskill New York distance of 240 miles in three days.

However my two wheel days of riding or over now that I have Parkinson’s

Very sorry to hear that.
Wife & I take care of my FIL who's been dealing with Parkinson's for the last 7 years.
He used to take his bike & ride down to the local fishing spot by the bay in Queens, NY
I even got him an ebike in 2017 to make it easier to deal with hills, he would take it out for grocery near by.
Once COVID hit, the cycling stopped for him and he deteriorated pretty quickly.
Hard to get him out moving these days.
Staying active is key, even if just short walks, every single day.
I participated in cycling races in central NJ, Philly area over 20 years ago.
I started riding motorcycles about 22 years ago.
Crossed the NA continent few times with riding friends.
Commuter in NYC many years on different motorcycles.
Nowadays, I commute on a folding bike between Hoboken NJ & Brooklyn.
I deliver large volume of food items in Brooklyn on my cargo ebike, sure beats driving and looking for parking spots.
I still keep my motorcycles around, only to ride occasionally to keep the machine operational and my riding skill in check.

Awesome that you wrote across the continent. That was my dream to buy back injuries and neck injuries made me give up riding my bicycle.

Yes I am very busy! I can still drive a car, but mostly I just worry about getting dressed in the morning, making food for myself during the day, and I watch a lot of TV.

But I’m good!

Oh I forgot to mention. One of my childhood friends from Germany has written his bicycle around the world! Twice!

Ever consider a recumbent bicycle?
I got injured 20+ years ago, when a SUV driver crossed double yellow lines to turn into my path while I was at the head of the pack of dozen of cyclists traveling 20+ mph.
I was out of commission for over 4 months, still have a nice dent in my head 'til this day.
I got a used recumbent for under $500 and off I went riding again.
No strain on nrck, shoulders, arms nor wrists, I was pedaling more to regain my stamina, core & leg strengths. Eventually, I got back enough physical condition to ride regular bicycles & motorcycles.
Some recumbent are trikes, two wheels in front and steers like a go-cart.
With electric assist, recumbents can get around pretty quick.

My father taught me to work on bikes & motorcycles nearly 40 years ago.
As a teen, I pedaled across the NA Continent with 9 other teens and two leaders at the YMCA. From Seattle, WA to Ocean City, MD.
10 weeks of camping and cooking your own food across the real America at 15 mph.
I got to experience this country intimately with my Huffy 10-speed.
Now that I have the means and experience with different motorcycles, I want to re-do the same trip on a motorcycle.
My dream ride would be on my vintage 125cc Honda to Alaska & Arctic Circle (Prudhoe Bay) and back. It will be slow, it will be boring, but I will enjoy most of it in the wilderness.

Started riding minibikes as a young teen.

I have seen too many friends killed or badly injured by drivers who "didn't see" them to consider riding on the road. I still have a Honda TLR 200 that I use for hunting. It is very quiet, and doesn't scare game away.

Thinking of getting back to motorcycle riding soon. Had to let my CBR go when life gets in the way

Yeah, I'm on the verge of selling my Hondas, too.. ebikes & bicycles are taking over with high gasoline prices.

Nice bikes. The gas hike is crazy nowadays! The tires of the Yaris are due next month and good to see some deals at TR and 4Wheelonline.

Thought about getting my M license and buying a Honda Ruckus and using it as a commuter bike. They're super cool little units and are insanely cheap to run.

Thanks, motorcycling has been a passion of mine since childhood.
My father taught me how to fix bicycles & motorcycles, though he didn't teach me how to ride them; I took up that on my own.

I had a Rukus for a few years, used it as a commuter in NYC, got it vandalized in Brooklyn.
I think the rugged look (lack of body plastic) of it make people think it's easy picking for thieves.
These days I have a 2002 Honda Reflex in NYC, underseat compartment that store items, out of sight of thieves.

Since APR 2021, I've been riding ebikes more and more in NYC, no fuel, no parking cost, less maintenance and enough performance to move along with congested city traffic.

Yes and they were cable operated brakes as well. I wish I had hung onto that XL 250 you could take it completely apart with just the tool kit that came with it. It was beautifully simple and incredibly well thought out. Especially the snail chain adjusters! You never see them anymore!

Contrast that with the brake system of the ST 1300 with linked brakes and ABS. Those linked brake system are so complicated I imagine ST 1300s are just sitting around unable to be ridden because no one can fix the brakes anymore they are so complicated.

Safest way to ride a motorcycle is just use the throttle and don’t touch the brakes except for stop signs. Cable operated drum brakes are all you need even for an ST 1300!

when i got my 01 interceptor it was to replace my o1 zr7-s..most dont know what that is so ill simplify..its the last itteration of the GPZ and shares pretty much everything on the engine and half of whats o the frame

LOVED the brakes on the gpz with that weird 60/70 split..but i thought about working on it.....loved the vtech KICK...but the suspension about killed me 3 times in under 300 miles....i played with it and couldnt get it closer to how i needed it so i let it go...and if you looked at my list im pretty die hard honda..i grew up on hondas...the "new" gpz is so perfect to me..air cooled, carbs, simple, but that suspension...it sucks up the worst while still being firm and planted i put 15000 miles on it in the first year i had it..and still love the bike..ha one day where i spent 14 hours in the saddle...being 6'4 thats a feat in itself to have anything be comfortable for taht long outside of my xl600r

"most" of the hondas pre 90s could be entirely worked on with just the OE kit..and your right on the snail setup brilliant!..as for that cable brake front end.....my xl600r had that front end on it when i got it..now let me tell you at 100mph or long down hills that shit gets SCARY!!!!..took me a while to find a complete correct disc front end for it, on a 250 i could see it being fine...

ive had me xl600r, xl500s and xr250 down to the bone atleast twice each...very simple bikes rock solid reliability and the fact that you can still order parts direct from honda for em...hard to argue with
