I was wondering the same.
I have an '09 with only about 18,000 miles on it ... long story.
However, it still shifts normally.

I would change if the car was mine. No you don’t need Toyota transmission oil!

All manual transmission cars need the clutch slave bled occasionally. I used to do mine once a year.

With 18,000 miles in 13 years old I would change that also If the car were mine.

I change mine every 50,000 miles or so with Redline MT90.

Make sure not to use random gearbox oil. I am using redline Mt-90. You don't need to replace it very often. Once every 50000 miles is okay.

Why not regular synthetic gear oil? What would happen?
