Alternator for a 2016 Hatchback?

Hi everyone

my yaris needs a new alternator and i was told by the mechanic that the part is on backorder everywhere and my current option is to have them buy it from the dealership for 300/400 dollars. (he had originally quoted me 250 for part and labor before I got in there). I've been looking at junk and salvage yards for an alternator but all I'm finding are alternators for 2017 yaris hatchbacks. My question is can i use an alternator from a 2017 yaris for my 2016 one?
