This weekend I drove to upstate New York from Philadelphia and back about 500 miles total. On the way up I got 46.7 miles per gallon on cruise control. In New Jersey it’s pretty flat but in New York it’s up and downhill especially over the Catskills. The CVT transmission acted really weird sometimes it would river up to 4000 RPMs when going downhill after going uphill. Weird. I set the cruise control on 60 mile an hour I was the slowest thing on the road. It might’ve took 15 minutes more than normal going 75 about 4 1/2 hours.
So on the way back I didn’t use cruise control. On a flat surface the RPMs were about 1700. On a hill it might go up to 2000. I tried to go 60 miles an hour but it was very from 55 to 65. But when I got home and fill the tank is average out to 51.1 mpg.

Made another trip to upstate New York this weekend from Philadelphia. 48 miles per gallon on the way up 54 miles per gallon on the return trip. All verified at the pump.
The car has the old 1.8 L fuel injection on the intake manifold only engine. Again the CVT transmission acted weird trying to maintain speed in hilly terrain. The mpg is great but I hope it will last as long as the good old fashion automatics. I’ve heard they sometimes don’t.

That's pretty impressive I don't think I have ever beaten the factory numbers in any car while driving anywhere besides the NYS thruway maybe.

All you have to do is go 60 miles an hour. On route 145 which runs from Saugerties to Cobleskill I had to pass a car on a 2 Lane road CVT gave impressive acceleration Much better than I could do with a manual transmission. I don’t know how long it will last, but the performance is impressive

Took another trip to Cobleskill this past weekend. Returning home early Sunday morning on route 145 I hit a deer. The car has radar breaking, but I had to hit the brakes the car didn’t do it. So much for AI! The deer ran in front of my car from left to right. I was in the town of East Durham or maybe just Durham going about 35 miles an hour. I got a good stab on the brakes before the impact. I guess I was going about 20 25 miles an hour before the impact. I have Parkinson’s, but there’s nothing wrong with my reflexes! Interesting. Lucky for me the car was drivable. I am quite disabled and dealing with a car that would not drive in a very rural place would have been a lot! But there isn’t much I can do besides driving a car. This is one of the few adventures I have left.
For a deer strike the car wasn’t really badly damaged and I was able to drive the 200 miles home. Unfortunately due to Covid issues, it will be a month before the shop will even look at it. And God knows how long before it’s actually fixed. It’s hard to get parts and it’s hard to get people to work apparently.

I got the car in the shop! I called them and asked do you take cancellations? Like in a doctors office if there’s a long time before you can get an appointment sometimes they ask if you’ll take a cancellation. They said can you come in today? And I said I can come in right now! So if you’re In the same boat maybe they will take a cancellation ask for it.

I saw my neurologist today and everybody had to wear a mask. I hope it’s overkill.

I got the estimate to fix the Corolla. My brother saw the picture and said it’s gonna be $3500.
$11,000. Take a look the picture there’s really not much damage.
That’s what it cost to fix that kind of damage on the car made In the year 2020.
Friday I get the estimate as to when the work will be done. They’ve ordered the parts from Toyota. So it’s a o matter of when they come in. If they have a labor to do the job. And if they know how to fix a car that electrically complicated.

$11,000? That's insane. Glad you're okay, though, bronsin.

It needed to head lights $1100 apiece. They would need the whole bumper and headlight assembly as well as the hood I don’t know what those go for. The picture doesn’t imply that High a price to fix

gouging at its finest, unless the airbags deployed or theres frame damage, theres no reason its that costly
5k would be reasonable gouging
is the fender ok?..cant tell by the pic
even at toyotas gouged prices
bumper cover 200$
1100 headlight
hood 400
fender 200
i dont get the 11,000.......

The work is being done by caliber collision not the dealer. I believe they are nationwide. I try to post the estimate without success
Both fenders in the hood were replaced. The radiator and condenser had to be removed and replaced I think the parts were $6000 the rest was labor. I think.
