after scouring the threads looking for a shot of where the fogs hookup on the engine side it seems as if its all dead pics n dead links

ive ordered and recieved a fog stalk, ive had fog lights on the cheep console switch since dec, with my own harness and a wire thru the firewall IE the no dash indication method

now that ive got the stalk its time to do it OE IE with dash indication(canadian car with factory tach i see the spot that should light)...stalks in, relay is in...but im at a loss of the exact connection point on the engine side fuse box, i assume its one of the most forward white connections as both of those go down into the front bumper area......but ive got no clue which one and where on them

i really need to verify this stalk is still good before my ebay return window closes

Come to Canada, there is at least one 2nd gen in pretty much every U-pull I've been in. 3rd gens aren't really old enough to start showing up in U-pulls yet unless its been in a wreck.

did a bunch of testing yesterday

2 things

#1 with the stalk, you have to add a ground wire to the far right "tiny" hole on the column plug
#2 the engine side fuse box "feed" wire holes are the left front side plug top right side holes...the one with just a bunch of green wires in it

done..everything works as intended ....now i need to track down power windows

Attached is a PDF that I saved when I was installing my fog lights.

I ended up splicing two OEM terminals (PN: 82998-12340) to my fog light wiring kit for compatibility with the engine side wire harness. I got them from here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/193350436215

the only addition i see needed for said PDF is that atleast for an 07, you need to add a ground wire to the stalk harness on the far right top 2 slot area the tiny pin...the single all by itself over there, the other 2 on the other end on the top are also for the fog, they give feedback to the ecu, the ground is required to actualy get the fogs to fire

I didn't create the PDF, and it's been over two years since I did my fog light install. I ended up finding the PDF via the wayback machine (https://archive.org/web/).

BTW, if you are stuck on a problem like this. Use the wayback machine to see if the webpages with potential information have archived copies. I have found a lot of useful "lost" information (i.e. pictures, pdfs, attachments, etc.) that way. This site and microimageonline.com are good places for finding old info.

bonus note
i managed to get an un-modified console switch to trigger the dash indicator by plugging the power side of the switch into the left bottom side of the relay plug and stuffing the relay in over top of it

i was doing a bunch of troubleshooting trying to figure it all out as i thought i had a bad stalk(missing that ground wire)...it was my understanding that this was bassicly impossible without a modded switch and wiring it thru a complicated setup

Happy to somewhat help. Good luck with the modification. I'm very glad that I installed the fog lights with an OEM look!

ditto, i just managed to get the bonus of having the stalk AND the console switch to both work, kinda nice having the console "populated" with OE switches...even if the fog switch is a dealer addon switch

Good to hear, I'm going the OEM stalk method. Well, semi-OEM. I ordered the stalk off of autozone. It's the Duralast SW8100 (https://www.autozone.com/electrical-and-lighting/dimmer-switch/p/duralast-switch-sw8100/82218_0_0). Hopefully it works. I've been reading up on this and trying to find any post dealing with fog light installation. So far I have a consolidated file on my desktop with all of the resource material that I have been able to find. I'll let you know when I get started, it may have to be a weekend since my Yaris is my daily driver.

When you say "column plug" are you talking about the column wiring harness? Also where did you ground to, I haven't looked under the dash yet to find a good spot, I figured I would you first.

ok so it looks like the fog stalk is a 3 wire unit an the 3rd wire needs to be grounded i honestly ran it to the first bolt i could find with the column covers off...cant say i remember where exactly but i didnt run it very far

Ok, I got into it today and did the full install. I didn't have to do any wiring on the inside of the car because I modded the wire loom that came with my AM fogs and they came on with no problem. Additionally, the Duralast stalk from Autozone worked just fine.

I'm thinking that because you have both the console switch and the stalk switch, that might have something to do with the need for the additional ground.

I have working fog lights now!!!

i got my stalk out of pakistan so its probabably something about being a "euro" LHD stalk?....not sure, heck maybe the duralast just grounds that bit internaly for dual ground points..wouldnt be the first time ive seen aftermarket parts "shorten" the need for grounds internaly

my console switch needed a re-wire on the relay side to have them work together but that aside the ground was specific to the stalk i used

Interesting. Yeah, I was able to find a LHD from Lithuania on eBay, but I didn't want to wait so long on shipping so I went with the Duralast one. I'm glad you got your fogs working and so far I am really enjoying mine.

im curious if the switches work the same....when i turn the headlights off it forces the fog section to turn and go off as well

Mine does the same thing, when I turn off the headlights my fogs turn off too.

When you say "bitcoin otc trading (https://nexthash.com/otc-trading-platform)" are you talking about the column wiring fantasy miniature game (https://eldfall-chronicles.com/)? Also where did you ground to, I haven't looked under the dash yet to find a good spot, I figured I would you first.

amazing, thanks to you both

NO, but you "can" make them work together if you really want to....but honestly go the stalk route its less prone to fail

I bought my fog light stalk through the dealership. I think it was about $105. I did not have to do any wiring inside the car. Everything was just plug and play.

Eventually I wanted my fog lights to be turned on independently of the headlights. I also wanted the fogs to stay on with the high beams. So I removed the DRL relay under the dash and connected a the orange wire that (originally plugged into the DRL relay) to ground.

Hi guys, read all the posts around for fog lights installation but may my situation is a liitle different and I would like your help.
Installed the fog lights and now I am in the process of wiring installation.
1. The D4 Headlight Switch Assembly Connector under Steering column has no Orange and Yellow wire pins but White Gray Line and Yellow.
2. There is an installed Blue Relay, hope for Fog Lights but just found that is for rear fog lights (https://fuseandrelay.com/toyota/yaris-vitz-2g.html)
3. Fuse FR Fog Blue 15 is installed.
3. My Kit (see the picture) includes only 2 wires Black and Red except from Fuse,Relay and switch.
Could you please tell me how to install in prewired?

Since your headlight switch doesn't have the typical orange wire, I'd start by probing that white/gray wire to see if it gets power when the lights are on - that's probably your trigger wire.

As for your relay, I agree that blue one is likely for rear fogs. No need to change it though. Just wire your new fog lights to the normally open contacts on the relay coil side. Then run the trigger wire from the switch to power the relay coil.

Ground the lights and relay coil obviously. You should be all set then! Lights will turn on with headlights.

I grounded that pin and it didn't work for me.

On vehicles that have that pin wired in the harness, where does it output to? Meaning, if i want to copy the stock wiring, where would i have to run that wire and connect it to?
