Airbag light comes on

Hi guys i noticed the airbag light comes on on passeneger side when weight is on the seat..example a person or even a case of water. Anyone know why ?? How to fix it ?

pretty sure that means its "armed"...or atleast on my wifes 07

Nothing to fix, system is operating as it should. There is a sensor in the seat which detects weight on it and therefore arms the airbag. It can't tell between human or a sack of potatoes, it just knows something is there and quite possibly needs to be protected.

it will freak out if teh seatbelt isnt buckled tho

ohhh so then i dont need to worry about it.... i know the yaris has had a recall on the airbags ??
