Thanks for sharing, that was certainly an interesting read. I hope one day I'll have the money and resources to build a car like that. Until then I'm having fun with my old Yaris with all the TRD goodies installed:biggrin:

I would be happy with the stock engine surviving at 200whp. 150 would probably feel amazing compared to the 100 we're used to. I wonder how much boost for 150hp and 200hp. I heard it can handle 8psi max when stock. I wouldn't do more than 6, that seems like the magic number to keep it within the stock mettalurgy

there is ALOT involved with boost, most of which is the condition of the head, rods and pins....

assuming you can keep the fuel in the right spot 6 should be easy

i miss my 89 2.5 turbo dodge caravan..yes boosted minivan from the factory 89/90 only and SWB...once i intercooled it and swapped to a short throw manual setup that thing was an animal...and would hit the factory boost limiter of 13.5 with ease!...it was VERY hard on tires and CV joints..and diff's..i blew the casings out of 3 autos with it..fist sized windows LOL

Even at 8psi a stock 1NZ-FE is on borrowed time. Weak spot is the rods, they're just super thin.

Toyota sold a factory turbo 1NZ-FE overseas in a handful of cars and they were rated at about 150hp to the flywheel. Thats about as much as I would go without opening up a 1NZ IMO.
