Hi Guys –
My buddy, Steven B. just returned from a trip to Japan. Being a car guy, I asked him, before he left, to keep his eyes open for anything Vitz related (Steve drives a 2006 Scion xA, BTW). I tried to attach the photos, but was unable to so I have uploaded them to my Flickr page - http://www.flickr.com/photos/gabagooo/. They are the fantastic shots of a Toyota car dealership/museum/shopping mall that he came across and a few cars on the street. I have included part of his description of what we are seeing. Enjoy!
“Pontocho is a ritzy shop and nightclub area across the river from Gion, aka Geishaville. The Vitz was hard to spot, so I'm glad I shot this one. Also included is the Bistro, which is probably the smallest car I saw on the road in Japan. The book in front of it is for reference. It's 8.25" long. Image 614 shows the three vehicles the Toyota showroom tagged as Cars of the Future. I heard that the one on the foreground is actually for sale now, but isn't doing that well. Gee, wonder why. If it weren't so big, I'd send you the clip of the video presentation (simulated) showing that overgrown pram zipping down the highway amidst real cars. Talk about the wind through your hair... and gravel through your skin...
Closer look at one with a windshield: Image 615. 618 & 619 might be even smaller than the Bistro, even if it was only in the showroom. I think this had some snappy name like "e-commuter". They had an enormous conveyor belt that pulled the car around in a loop that went hundreds of feet outside the showroom and back. Didn't ride it; it cost, and it looked a little snug. (For reference: Book is six inches wide.)” Steven B.
