I recently had a harrowing experience with my Yaris.
The steering wheel suddenly froze up, all the dashboard lights started blinking.
Fortunately, somehow, I didn't get into an accident, and was able to steer into a parking lot by the side of the road.
The diagnosis was that my alternator was shot. Replaced it. Things seem to be fine now.
(Note: the reason the steering wheel froze up is because my Yaris has electric power steering.)
The thing is: I'm not sure if the red battery warning indicator light (https://i.ytimg.com/vi/OJK0alufDkM/maxresdefault.jpg) turned on or not before this happened.
My question for you: is the red battery warning indicator light (https://i.ytimg.com/vi/OJK0alufDkM/maxresdefault.jpg) expected to turn on if:
it's not charging
the battery is not working properly (e.g. some cells are charging but others are not)
