Hi all,

Been a minute since I last posted on the forums. I have a 2007 Yaris sedan with the Power Package, which means I have the fancy instrument cluster with the tachometer. That said, it seems this cluster isn't readily available with a new lens/cover for it as I'm seeing in parts searches for other cluster assemblies. I've got a faint scuff across the front of mine. It is still usable, just annoying, and I'm left wondering if anyone has had similar issues and been able to polish, wax, etc., the lens on their speedometer/cluster to help remedy it. Anyone?

Thanks!

polishing clear plastic like that is only ment for those with exceptional patience

ive not done it to a yaris but ive done it to countless old cars....pre 1980

and what i can tell you is that you will want to remove the lense take it in the house where ts warm and slowly work on it..youll need to start by figuring out how deep the damage of the scuff is...but your going to be sanding and polishing the ENTIRE lense, anything less will leave a permanent "smudge" in the finish

if yoiu truely want to take it on plan on needing wet sand paper from 600 thru 2500 grit as well as various stages of polishing compounds

if you want to try quick n dirty..you can try a headlight lense buff n polish but i dont reccomend it as the plastic of a headlight is 4x as thick and tough

with that said tho i have had luck on small lenses where ive used nothing but the final 2 stages of polishing compound on a cotton wheel then 3 stages of rubbing compound...but this was on VERY fine scrtaches IE from NOS parts floating around in a box
