Hello, in my '07 Yaris Sedan, I have a spare donut tire but it's well over 10 years old, and was I wondering if I should buy a replacement donut tire? and where would I find one?

I've been looking for a spare donut tire but cannot find any for my yaris. :iono:

Thank you

You could look in junkyards, but then those tires would be about as old as yours.

If it was my tire, I would not worry about it. Just keep air pressure up in it.

any "good" name brand tire shop should be able to order you a new one

however i wouldnt worry about it, its been essentialy "stored correctly" out of sunlight, aired up...unless you live in an area with HEAVY temperature swings its technicaly not aged at all

your other option would be to knock out the angle tab in the trunk pan and switch to a full size spare

Agreed, I'm just concerned about the safety of a 10+ year old tire.

Also, the last time I had a flat tire, I had taken to a shop and they refused to put on my donut tire due to it being 10+ years old. The tow truck I called, didn't care they put it on for me.

Explain this I don’t understand. It’s possible a full size spare will fit in the tire well?

This might be a good option for the original poster.

theres alot of misconceptions about "tire age"
first and most importantly is UV damage...your spare has none..right as its been used maybe for a day?
secondly is how its stored..most spares are stored flat with the rubber not really touching anything IE perfect storage
and #3 which is also semi critical..how much moisture is INSIDE the tire....if its never needed to have been more than topped up slightly then no moisture

if those 3 things check out..then the tire is still technicay new

the "exception" to those is high tempteture swings IE below freezing for more than a month a year and temps over 100 more than a few months a year....but really more concerning would be swinging from below frezing to above 100 in the same week

90% of "old" tires are visably old with "checking"

someone on here documented how its done..and ive checked into it myself and have yet to do it, but there is a angle up pedistal that if removed allows for a full size to fit "just"....the JDM cars seem to mostly have full size spares OR they have a flat sitting space saver under the "full drop" floor..as these yaris dont have the "tool boxes" next to the spare allowing the floor to go well to the floor pan

I've bought donut spares on eBay in the past.

I just used the oem spare that sat outside for about a decade and was dry rotted and I'm down to the chords waiting for my new tires. Didn't lose more than 15psi over 500? Miles and i filled it with waste oil just to be sure it wouldn't cause any issues. I loved the way it handled with the spare. Easy turning and felt smooth as could be. (All my rims are dented to crap)
