Just wondering why they come with copper and if it matters if the next oil change you replace the copper with a regular steel washer.

This is the item:

DEEFILL Oil Drain Plug M12 x 1.25, Magnetic Oil Pan Drain Plug T6 Aviation Aluminum with Red Copper Crush Washer Gaskets Compatible with Toyota, Lexus, Nissan, Infiniti https://a.co/d/15Unvsh

On another note does anyone have any bad/good notes about their experiences with magnetic drain plugs or is it more of a gimmick?

Lastly does anyone use a tool/specific wrench to remove the old oil filter? I was thinking on getting the giant grip pliers for removing oil filters but liked the cup/socket combo. I just couldn't find one that was for a Yaris 90915-yzzf2 filter.

Thanks I'm advance

copper or crush aluminum are the best seals, with fiber washers and plastic being the next alternative
steel washers on drain plugs are the least effective at sealing

as far as the filter goes..if you need a wrench to do the job youve done it wrong on the previous change

if should NEVER be installed dry
clean the old surface
oil the seal ring with FRESH oil
hand tighten

I took one of these and welded an extension and breaker bar to it. Makes it quick and handy to remove small filters. I found it at a flea market.

I also found this vacuum pump at a flea market, it screws on to a glass bottle and lets you hook up a 3/16 nylon tube. Put the tube down the dip stick hole and extract your oil. It's quick when the oil is hot.
