View Full Version : Does The Yaris store mileage data in more than one location?

Yaris 3

I made a different topic asking how to replace my instrument clusterbecause mine is broke and does not show the kilometers driven at the moment. I assume the new cluster has the data stored of the donor car, so I guess I will have to get the new cluster programmed to match the real data.

Being in this situation raises many questions:
My car is bought used with 80k kilometres. If someone can just buy a spare instrument cluster and swap them around every year, the next person buying the car (me) will never know?

Does the 3rd gen Yaris store the milage data anywhere else? Can I access this data? Or the dealer?

I have been driving around with this broken cluster, how can I tell what the exact milage is of my car? I know it is around 88k kilometres, but I cannot say what the exact number will be since I have been driving around with this broken cluster. If the data is stored somewhere and someone finds out the data is not an exact match with the data shown on the odo meter, I am afraid I will be sued for it. Idk, I just want the exact number on the odo meter..

You are right the mileage data is stored in the instrument cluster, so you will be having the donor mileage which is incorrect.
I dont know how to program it but it is possible as what the other have done in below.

Mileage in 3rd gens is only stored in the cluster, it can be re-programmed by a competent speedometer shop pretty easily, or if you know someone that can reprogram EEPROM chips and knows hex code.
