So
2008 Toyota Yaris liftback, 5 speed manual transmission, 222K miles. Shop quoted about $5000 for parts and labour. I've found a used one on ebay with 69K miles that seems good, and am planning on getting that and a new clutch pack. Installation should be easy- my brother is going to school for automotive technology and his class is currently on transmissions and driveline stuff, so he's able to use the school shop to work on his own car (or any car he brings in).
The shop said that along with the transmission, they would be replacing seals and gaskets, and though I'd check here if any of y'all have done this work.
I'd like to know which parts/part numbers the gaskets and seals and other parts I should pribably replace along with the transmission would be so I can have all the parts on-hand before starting the replacement.

Are you going to have the flywheel machined? With that mileage I'd consider replacing the master and slave cylinders. Check your axle boots for tears also.

I rebuilt my C50 transmission and it was fairly straightforward to replace all the seals and gaskets along with the synchro rings and a few of the bearings. I have all the part numbers listed on a Google Sheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1xWUNXhVmon0siE9UEpWw7sa3p-yqvurtOhkQe3lx_yo/edit

only difficult part of the transmission rebuild would be removing 5th gear, its press fit very tight and most likely will get damaged if they dont use the perfect size gear puller, whats the problem with your transmission currently? im gonna guess 3rd gear grind?

Are there any specific considerations or additional parts to replace when undertaking a transmission replacement on a 2014 Toyota Yaris with 190K miles, and what challenges might arise during the process?
