Hello all, it’s been years since I last posted here although I occasionally glance at the forums every couple of months, hope everyone is doing well. For the past year or two I’ve put off fixing my ABS system but would like to get it resolved and am not entirely sure of where to start and what you all think is the most likely culprit here. I got the following codes scanned at AutoZone with the given descriptions:
- C0279: Short circuit in ABS solenoid relay circuit
- C1361: 1. Abnormal battery voltage of VSC sensor. 2. Short circuit in motor fail safe relay
It seems straightforward to me that this may be a bad fuse, connection or wire. I am not sure I checked the fuses correctly but about 2-months ago I did a continuity test on the ABS related fuses and they seemed fine. Am I correct in assuming the next steps are checking the wiring of the ABS unit itself? I am totally unfamiliar with it and wonder if anyone has links to detailed diagrams and suggestions as to where I should start.
My biggest worry with ABS/brake related issues is that, while I love and am willing to DIY all of this, I wonder how I can ensure air never gets in the system and how to detect if it may have? Perhaps this job doesn’t bring the risk of that but I wanted to ask anyways.
I actually have 130K miles and still have the factory brake fluid which I believe should’ve have been replaced a while back so that may be my next job.
