Hi all,

in 2022, I had an ABS fault on my 2007 Yaris. I used a computer scanner which told me there was a fault with the rear wheel speed sensor, rendering the ABS system inactive.

I and ordered a rear wheel hub with built in ABS wheel speed sensor for around $50 CAD from Rock Auto. I took a gamble and replaced the rear-right wheel hub assembly, since the computer doesn't report WHICH ONE is faulty. Just that it is in the rear. Cleaned out the electrical connections with some cleaner and re-assembled.

This cleared the issue. Yay!

Well, now I have the ABS fault again. Looking on Rock Auto, I'm seeing the complete hub assemblies, but also a standalone wheel speed sensor part.

It's my understanding that the wheel hub and wheel speed sensor are a complete unit. That you can't detach the speed sensor itself and replace it.

Is that true? There's a basic listing of just the sensor here, as well as a wheel hub assembly that I have purchased in the past.

For the whole hub assembly that I've purchased before

So my question is. Can I just buy the sensor and replace it? I was under the impression that I couldn't.
