Help Identifying Part That Fell Off

Hello all,

I am seeking help in identifying a part that fell off my 08 liftback while driving recently. Please see the attached photos. Notice the "x" embedded in the metal. Is this a safety hazard or something that needs replaced immediately?

That is not the front lift point. I've not seen anything like it. Are you sure it's from your car? Where did you find it?

Yes I am 100% sure it's from my car. There was a rattling noise from the front of the car (sounded like engine area, I think driver side) for a couple hours before it fell off. I picked it up off the road after it fell off.

What are the dimensions of this? My car keeps losing bits and pieces all over the central Europe but I have not seen this one falling off.

It measures out to about 5 x 4.5 in.

Thanks for looking, I appreciate it. I still have no clue what it is. When it was rattling before it fell off it sounded like it was from the front of the car, probably driver side.
