Arm rest/center storage for 2009 5 door

Looking to add an armrest/storage spot to my 5 door.
I have seen that there's an OEM (no storage) and a bunch of aftermarket ones.

Anyone have any experience with these?
Recommendations?

Can I just modify the central armrest/parking brake cover/gear shift cover from a sedan?

I just did that today. I got a 07 sedan center console from the junk yard and installed it in my 5 door hatchback. The only thing extra that I needed from the donor was the bracket that bolts down to the parking brake base. It's not perfect where the front meets the cubby hole as I had to make a filler panel.
