Hey everyone,
I recently swapped a 2ZZ-GE throttle body into my 1NZ-FE powered Yaris (2005 model, cable throttle). Just wanted to share a bit about the process and hear some feedback from anyone who's tried something similar or has knowledge about this setup.
Here’s some context:
The 2ZZ TB fits mechanically, but I noticed that the throttle opens in the opposite direction compared to the stock 1NZ unit.
I'm still using the OEM TPS from the 2ZZ, but it looks like the signal pattern might be inverted.
Idle is a bit weird, and response seems slightly laggy around low throttle input.
Currently no CELs, but I haven’t done any tuning yet.
I’m running this on a stock 1NZ ECU for now. Planning to either modify the TPS wiring or maybe switch to a programmable piggyback (I have an Apexi AFC2 and a Nanotech piggyback on hand).
My questions:
Has anyone dealt with the reverse TPS signal when using a 2ZZ TB on a 1NZ?
Is it better to adapt the 1NZ TPS onto the 2ZZ housing, or go with electronic correction via piggyback?
Any noticeable gains or downsides from this swap in the long run?
Appreciate any insights or pics if someone’s done it before. Just trying to optimize airflow before going for headers and tuning. Cheers from Chile!
