I've been asked if my car was a "smart". Compliment? :iono:
OK, I've also been asked for once if my car was a Prius. I guess that's an indirect way of asking if it's a hybrid:smile:.

Yup, it's happened to me several times.

06-21-2007, 07:13 PM
So far, I've only had people asking me, "so why didn't you just get a Prius?"

woof
06-21-2007, 07:21 PM
Hybrid = half dozen or so--somebody thought it was a Prius(?)

MPG = way more than a dozen

"That's a cute/good looking car!" From BOTH men and women. A dozen at least. My xB got NO such comments!

All I can say is, ALL the time! The amount of hybrid vehicles here is astounding (considering it's redneck agriculture out here), mostly Prius though, hardly any accords, a decent amount of the new camry hybrids, and a alright amount of escape hybrids. I also get a lot of questions if it's electric. Not once have I received any neg. comments. My brother read some stupid car review site and said "The Yaris got the worst reviews of all new cars." I felt the need to correct him.

One time ever. Most people ask me about the mileage though pretty much every day.

Funny post - I have people ask about once a week if it's a hybrid. I chuckle when I explain to them the financial side of it...namely it would take many, many years (if ever) for a hybrid to catch up economically to the Yaris.

Um.
Yaris: 6.1L/100km
Prius: 4.4L/100km
Hybrids have already beaten the Yaris  Seeing as we are also talking about a bigger, heavier car with more room, this is about half the proportional fuel consumption.

Okay, I don't have a Yaris but I've personally only been asked if my car is a hybrid once. I do get from time to time what MPG does it get. I'm sure there are some people in their cars who might think the ECHO is a hybrid as it takes a similar basic shape of the first gen Prius.

That's the #1 question they ask me. And every time it puts a smile on my face. #2 Question they ask: What kind of car is it? (Which usually comes with "Its so cute!") I always say it's a Yaris and its a new model from Toyota.

flagmunkey

usually in this order:
1. is that a hybrid?
2. whats the gas mileage
3. ITS SO CUTE

sherryberry
08-11-2007, 02:10 PM
people see it and they're like, oh it's a hybrid? But I don't go around enough to friends and family for them to ask the question. And they always ask about MPG.

I've had people tell me how cute it is (I think it's mostly girls). my boss had tried to talk me out of it when he heard i was getting a toyota cuz he had crappy experience with his sienna.

Other than that, like i've mentioned before... it's just guy whistles *sigh*

Never been asked if it's a Hybrid. But EVERY person that gets close to it or that gets into it asks about the MPG - and again - followed by the "cuteness". A lot of girls seem to say that... I wonder if that's a good thing or a bad thing. lol..

My GF drives a 2005 Solara :s .. lol - so not comparable.

Never ever!

But hybrid cars are not very popular at this side of the world.
If you want to drive fuel economic you drive diesel out here.

Only people who like cars do know that there are hybridcars.

I've only had a Yaris for a few days- so far, it has attracted a few stares, gazes, and an occasional head turn.

Today, I went to a VW/Mazda/BMW cuz my boyfriend recently got a car there so i was signing some additional stuff. I pulled up in my yaris, and the sales people outside was like, "What is that? is that even a car?" I wanted to smack them upside the head.

I either get the WTF is that big guy doing driving that thing look, or a "what is that" question. The best questions are from the people that are used to me driving a 5.0 vert...I think they are questioning my manhood but are afraid to say so... http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/smilies/outfitted/bullwhip.gif

Ignorance is bliss.

If I were a car salesman, I'd make it a priority to be aware of what's out on the market, and what's coming out soon, no matter what the direct competition is.

Pokin' fun is the name of the game....easiest way to get someones attention. I always dish it out, and expect it comin my way too! Not necessarily stupidity, but sometimes it helps....lifes too short to be serious.

I've had my Yaris about 12 days and I've been asked if it's a hybrid about five or six times already. And that's not to mention how many times I've been asked if it's an EV or a Smart car (I get that one a lot). I had one guy actually try and argue with me that it was a hybrid, assuming no engine could possibly get 40 mpg.
