Seriously.....who goes and mods a Hyundai.....Xcel and Ascent ~

I saw the first fully done up Hyundai Xcel the other day ~

The moment my bro and I saw it ~ We burst out laughing ~ Literally ~

and it had that sticker with japanese which reads....."For drifting purposes" ~

Shame ~ Shame ~

On another topic.....I would love to see that fully done up Yaris around my area ~ I have only seen it twice and would love to see it again and close up too ~

they could say to you.... who mods a Yaris ? Well you do, b.c. you like the car. I can remember when a bunch of people where getting laughed at for modding saturns. They were making there own turbo kits and such. They became somewhat of a joke until someone actually looked into a Saturn and found that it was a good platform because of its Light weight, I think it was the sc1's that where being modded. If there is a car out there its been modded. Don't laugh at them. Its their thing, their hobby.

heh that's true, if I got a dollar for every time someone asks me why I didn't get a proper sports car to modify... It's all a matter of perspective :wink:

But, plastering a Korean car with stickers in Japanese, that's beyond lame :tongue:

I know what you're getting at ~

But here in Australia.....Hyundai's have caused the majority of deaths because they have thin metal and they just have bad reputation ~

Yet people still buy them because they are cheap.....especially young people ~

It's just the bad reputation they have here in Australia.....that's why ~

How long have the Yarii been available in Australia? I think I read somewhere that they've been out in certain countries for several years.

The Echo (first generation of the Yaris) has been out since 1999 ~

The Yaris was released in 2004.....or was it 2005 ~ Hmmm.....anyways ~

Looks good to me. If you squint hard enough it resembles the profile of the Maserati Gransport.

Maserati Quattroporte

Quick Italian Lesson for you

Quattro = 4
Porte = Doors

Yet the picture shown only had 2 doors... Did you mean Dueporte?

Otherwise known as the GranTurismo

the thing about hyundai is that they have never been very original when it comes to car design,
some might call them "copy-cats".

True, reviewers often compared the 2003 Tiburon (the model I had) to a Ferrari 456GT. My thought was "I can have a car that looks kinda like a Ferrari for 15K? Great!" Did it DRIVE like a Ferrari? Sadly, no. :laugh:

But the Accent--that is Hyundai's WRC car, isn't it? All I know is there were lots of aftermarket parts for the Accent, next to none for Tib.

Hyundai just doing what they think the consumers want. They're just reaching out to others who want something exactly/similar to something, i.e. landrovers, since they can't actually afford that something.

If consumers want imitations then they'll buy it. Some are penny pinchers and some just want a cheap daily driver. Others buy them as first cars to experiment with, so later when they purchase a better car they'll have at least an idea of too much is. Some consumers are not as fortunate to have funding and to them... a car is just a car.

As for those who fix up their korean made car is just a personal preference.

Maybe they couldn't find Korean stickers or... (for those ignorant ones) since we all look alike we all speak the same language :rolleyes:

urgh yeah another pet peeve of mine, how it's so easy to generalize "Asians"... big difference between Japanese people, Vietnamese, Thai, or Indonesian, for example, although they are all technically Asian.

Though I guess it works both ways, over here I am a "farang", which is basically a general term for any white-skinned person, no matter where they're from...

i thought Japanese people were Pacific Islanders, like Filipino's. :tongue: lol...eh, i consider myself Asian even though i'm technically Pacific Islander.

I hate Xcels. The Tiburon is pretty sweet all round considering it's a 125+KW sports car for only $35000. :smile:

Well, it's like saying "Why buy a yaris? It doesn't even have 140HP for its price!". There are plenty of reasons. The number one is that it isn't American crap, it's quality Japanese. You get what you pay for. :smile:

American cars didn't become crap till they started competing for sales against "crap" cars. Japanese are just better at making crap lol.
