Okay. So who is going to see the new Transformers movie? I know I am. Any hard core enthuists out there? I remember them back in the day but to be honest I personally never really got into them but I'm still going to see the movie.

Any people have an opinion of Michael Bay directing it? I know there was some controversial thing about it and hoping he won't really mess it up.

Just look at Skorponok! Makes the one from Beast Wars look goofy!

I just don't like how they made optimus prime have some flames on his truck design...................very ugh in my opinion.....and most of the characters have an american car that they transform into which i don't really appreciate. Those are the only things i have against the movie. Other than that I'm watching it lol

Before i go see it next week........

when they transform into robots whatever u wanna call it when they transform...do u acually see a resemblence of the car?? for example; the headlights of the car would be their eyes........or sumfin, if it doesnt then there no point to it isnt there?

Yes, it sucks that they made the movie a big GM commercial. It's like that stupid Fantastic 4 movie and the Dodge advertising... "It has a Hemi?" I gagged!

I'm also confused as for why Megatron is not at least a tank. They made it a Cybertronian space ship or something like that.

From what I see int he trailer, promotional photos, and so on, some of them are quite noticeable, bit others are a bit more wild and less "realistic"

Anyway, it should still be a heck of a lot of fun to watch, I'll be there

michael bay's directing thus far isn't that great, but i have faith that this movie will be the exception. i know a few little things have changed but think about it. the fact that there is even a transformers movie alone is a huge accomplishment. remember, fans of the show are now all grown up and they have to take this idea in front of a bunch of suits who know nothing about the transformers history. i'm sure a few minor changes will piss off a lot of people but you can't please everyone.

i know i will see it. maybe not opening day, but i'm all over it. i use to watch the cartoon when i was little so i'm interested in how they pull a few things off.

I believe that Bay directed The Island? That movie was the shizniti....as for the TtM I will be there opening night...my only real qualms will be the GM BS for the cars and that Megatron is not the hand cannon as he should have been...that they changed him because of their personal opinions is real BS:bs: But now that they have this I can't wait to see WoW:The Movie (never even played the game), Diablo:The Movie and maybe they will work on Voltron?????

A bit annoyed that Bumblebee is a Camaro. He's called Bumblebee for a reason. He was a SMALL compact VW! But yeah, I'm seeing it. Had to talk my better half into letting me take her.

Thanks to the threat of video piracy, Transformers premiers tonight (28 June 07) in Malaysia and possibly other South East Asian countries as well. I guess the idea is that if we get to watch it first, we won't be tempted to get the pirated DVDs filmed from US theatres? I wonder why the authorities didn't figure it could work the other way around as well?

I got my tickets for the 1st of July. Hope its gonna be good. From the cast list, Optimus Prime is voiced by the same guy from generation 1!

Astroman
06-28-2007, 02:07 PM
I'm a little upset they didn't stick to the original vehicles. The part that upsets me the most is that Optimus Prime isn't a cab-over truck. They could have made Bumblebee a Chevette, still would have been a GM advertisement AND a small car . At least it's being made into a movie, and I can't wait to see it.

Big movies still pack in the crowds here. I feel theres been a resurgance of the cineplex over the last few years. Over here, the new complexes have finally balanced out the size of the theatres to be at least medium sized. In the 90s with the cineplex boom, mini thearters the size of living rooms were all over the place. I think that killed the market for a while.

I'm heading to the Cathay Cineplex in Mutiara Damansara. Its a big standalone building similar to cinema complexes in Australia. Its good because you only need to compete for parking with movie goers and not against shoppers. I paid RM11 (USD3.20) per ticket.

I hear that Bangkok cinemas are bigger, fancier, and a lot cheaper...

eTiMaGo
06-29-2007, 04:04 AM
Yeah the cineplex in the new Paragon shopping center is just insane, something like 20 screens, and apparently some super VIP rooms where they give you a bed to lie on while watching the movie, but it's like 3000 Baht (US100)

Normal cinemas are 100 baht, though I think there are often special promotions down to 80 baht...

I don't go to the cinema so often so I usually go for the more comfortable VIP seats, they're usually 300 Baht, but they are like La-Z-Boy chairs, they recline, you get a leg rest, and no annoying people kicking your back...

Probably won't go see it but I was just cruising by this forum. It's funny how the theaters are different all over the world. I was stationed in Holland/Amsterdam in the late 80's and I saw TopGun at a big theatre. They stop halfway through the movie for intermission so you can get your refreshments. The usuals, candy, popcorn, soda....beer! Then they would start the movie when everyone was back to their seats. And these were some great chairs, recliner like. Footpads and trays. Every row was stepped up higher than the one in front of you so there was noooooooooo way you'd have a blocked view. Made it all that much more fun to "roll" the empty beer bottle down the aisle ramp. We'd have contests to see how far "your" bottle would go. "tink tink tink"...No wonder Americans are frowned on...Hope I didn't ruin your movie back then.

Awesome movie. Some things sucked though:
• VB Bug => Camaro (surprisingly looked good though, seeing as GM is almost pure crap). I loved the "BEE-OTCH" sticker though.
• Jaz was a Porsche, now a pontiac. C'mon.
• I don't think Megatron entered his vehicle form.

I had to take a leak but could not get up due to non stop action. Very good movie. Yes the cars were not the same and all that but this is Hollywood they never keep anything the same. And every movie needs a advertising plot so they can sell it to the higest bidder this time it was GM.

No, unfortunately not. :( It's probably for the best though. Hollywood could make it VERY cheezy.

What a way to spend 4th of July afternoon. Fireworks inside the theatre!

This movie kicked all kinds of ass.

But...it got a little cheese filled near the middle when the autobots introduced themselves (Jazz's hip hop was lame)...and when they were hiding at the boys house. A little much.

Oh and that chick was HOTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!

Safariworld

If only they didn't spend so much time playing hide and seek at the house so that there could be more time spent on the ending. It was a pretty sudden way to end the movie.

"And every movie needs a advertising plot so they can sell it to the higest bidder this time it was GM."

Actually, I read an article where Bay talked about choosing the cars. He actually sought out GM! Apparently he's a fanboy... one of the 1st in the country to get that stupid looking SS sport-pickup-things when they came out. He saw the concept Camaro and HAD to have it in his movie, and wound up using GM for all of it. Saleen actually built the 2 concept Camaros used in the flick... they're not really "cars", per say, more like fully functional props. Lots of fake bits, like molded-in brake rotor hubcaps, plasticky doorhandles, stuff like that. They were built on a Pontiac GTO frame.

I think that was an article posted on the Motortrend website or something...

It is kinda' goofy changing from the original vehicles, but who wants to see hi-tech alien robots turning into 20 year old cars? The change makes sense. However, Jazz should have been a new Boxster or Carrera, not a Solstice! And BB really should have been a new Beetle, or even a Yaris!

Throughout the years Megatron has become so many different vehicles and gadgets, I can't even remember them all. I think his last toy incarnation actually was a jet/spaceship looking thing (Transformers: Energon).
