- HID is illegal without automatic leveller and washer jets
- Yaris does not have any "legal" HID option for countries that follow the DOT or ECE standard
- Around 4300°K is about where you want to be in HID
- Buy the +50 halogen bulbs to be 100% legal and get the most light output at a very low cost
- If you really want something bright, consider spot lights (though you won't be able to use them with oncoming cars).

and what's the lifespan of these +50 bulbs? are they 50 watts higher or is there more to it than that?

i was under the impression that there is a universal HID kit that you can install on your car.

here's some info i found http://forums.officer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41131 ... i live in louisiana and i have a buddy of mine who has bought these kits before, he had one in his porsche 911 and they looked great... he never had a problem, but doesn't mean they aren't illegal

i found a bixenon hid kit that is both hi and low beams and is within the legal color ranges(whether or not the kit themselves are technically legal i don't know)... anyway, as long as you don't go outside the color range i don't think you'll have too much of a problem... it's when you get to the really blue or purples that they start to bug you

I HIGHLY recommend the Sylvania Silverstar headlight bulbs. I compared them to brand new OEM, regular Sylvania, regular GE, PIAA, and a few others and the pure light output can be EASILY seen with the naked eye. $35 for a pair of bulbs is not cheap, but GE just released their performance bulbs called Nighthawks that might be just as good as the Silverstars.....

well worth the money, better than OEM quality..Sylvania for life!
