Lo!
So I hated the sound from the stock speakers in my 07 5 door hatch Yaris,
I went down to Best Buy, I asked the car audio guy what specs I should look for when comparing speakers, but he did not know.
I feel bad for him as I worked at best buy one christmas, and you are given no training.... But anyway.
I purchased a pair of these = http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0926INGFS10074535&catid=20114
2 6.5 inch speakers for the front doors, I picked them based off of the sound in the store.
Some song about bringing sexy back was all they had, singer was a female I think, or feminine
I figure I will replace them first, then the rear speakers, then an amp + head unit.
Replacing the front speakers was a breeze, though I had to learn how to remove rivets and window cranks.
I soldered the speaker wires to the speakers, installed them, and they sound TERRIBLE!!!!
There is so much distortion, for maybe the top 20% of my volume level. The toyota speakers sounded better.
Where did I go wrong? The solder? Do I need an amp first?
I don't want to invest in an amp and head unit and find out I have made a fatal error with the speakers.
Any feedback is appreciated, I have learned a lot from posters on this site and I look forward to your advice.
Thanks!
