I installed Tanabes Df210 springs awhile back, and i know that lowering a car will wear out stock shocks quicker than they would normally wear out.

1-so about how long would the shocks last on stock springs?
2-how long might the stock shocks last with my 2 inch drop?
3-do the trd shocks fit both the LB and the Sedan or is another case where the lift back gets all the love and the sedan gets left in the rain?

i also have 17's on 215/40 tires if that makes a difference.

Why does lowering a car wear out shocks faster? Changing the way you drive with a lowered car (faster) will wear them out faster.

Shocks will get 60-100k ususally before needing replacing, depending on how you drive, temperatures, etc.

Many times when you go to a stiffer spring rate, the shocks rebound stroke is faster, and therefore the shocks get hotter... but I don't know how that effects life-span.

Anyhow, when yours wear out I have 2 sets of stockers to seel you cheap! I would imagine the $150 springs would wear out quicker than the OEM shocks.

the trd shocks fit both. if you ride in warm weather on smooth roads, I suspect the stock shocks will last long enough so you won't have to worry about. In the opposition, on poor roads and cold weather the stock shocks could blow in less that 1 year

i'm not exactly sure how shocks work on the inside but i assume that decreasing the amount of space that the shock has to rebound from bumps and holes would wear them out sooner than if that space hadnt been decreased. excess heat will weaken the metal over time and i guess i can see how cold will fuck them up. i just didnt know the average lifespan of shocks.

The factory equipment is designed to have a certain amount of travel, in this case up and down. When you lower the car you change this ratio and the shock has to contract and expand differently. Going TOO low will blow the factory shock. Aftermarket shocks are often designed to travel in a shorter "field" and are designed to fit lowered suspensions.

I like Koni shocks myself, but I honestly have not looked into too many suspension mods for the Yaris just yet.

This has been discussed 1,000,000,000 times. The DF210 were designed to work with the factory equipment. You should be ok for a very long time. If you wanted to replace the dampers with something stiffer you would feel the difference driving.
