I thought NST was the first to make a short shift kit for the Yaris, then I found this:

http://www.trdsparks.com/displayparts.php?Mdl_dtl=543&Part_cat=20&parts_id=1361

Basically the same thing, right?

to throw another three letters into the mix, I still kinda prefer my TWM one as it really does shorten the gear stick, but it's just a matter of taste... In terms of value for money, NST FTW!

FWIW the TRD quickshift "chip" isn't JDM, it is made in the US, and only listed on the US site. The Japanese TRD site does not list this item. What they do list is a short shifter in the format of the TWM "stick".

So that means it is NST FTW

Quite possibly.

Costwise:

TRD Japan short shifter is by far and away the most costly.

TWM short shifter costs the same as the TRD USA quick shift "chip".

NST "chip" is the cheapest of all.

Function wise:

If you like the height of the stock shifter: TRD USA quick shift "chip" or NST replica.

If you've always felt that stock stick was too long, TRD Japan short shift and TWM.

Actually, its all good to have four products on the market. There's something for everyone, and that can't be a bad thing at all.

I have to give it up to Mike and the rest of the crew at NST. I threw them the idea a while back on making this tranny-side SSK happen and they have done nothing but impress me since. They tackled this project with enthusiasm and now we can say that NST has yet again provided a combination of quality and low cost that is unmatched by any other company providing a similar product on the market. I am extremely happy to have NST as an active vendor in this community, and my only hope is that we continue to support their efforts and vice versa. Their catalog is becoming quite impressive... three lightweight pulleys, this kit, and who knows what else? You could literally take a stock Yaris and buy NST's offerings and have more fun the day they hit the doorstep, and all without breaking the bank. Cool!

These short shifters suck! It's no shorter getting it into D than before and I can't even get it down into 1!

You have installed one on your car? It must be the TRD one, then?
More details please.

I think I'm the only lucky SOB to have installed the NST tester so far. It worked just as advertised. There are going to be 25+ very happy people come a couple weeks here when those get shipped out.
