Ok everyone, I think I have finally decided on the wheels I am going to get. They are the 5zigen FN01R-C in 16x7. I need all of your honest opinions on what color to get. Matte Black or Hyper Black. All input and feedback is welcome and will be greatly appreciated! They are going on a Blazing Blue Liftback. Thanks everyone!

Hey thanks a lot! I'm a perfectionist myself and I want that perfect look. I plan on dropping it with a set of TRD shocks and struts and possibly a set of TRD lowering springs. I still have to explore and get familiar with all the specs for that!

42 offset okay .. if you go with 17's .. but if you go 18s which i have .. you still will be fine but expect rubbing

+42 is great, will give you some tuck, 18's are retarded looking for on a yaris, hyper black looks good with the blue, +33 is gonna poke

you can go either way depending on how low you want to go, I say DF's and +42

Thanks for the replies! So a +42 should work with 16x7? Any rubbing if, I mean when, lowered?

shouldn't have any problems with 195/50/16 or 205/45/16, +42 is a good offset

you can run 205/50/16 but you may have some rubbing

you might want to check out some garages and talk with a few people running similar setups but I think I'm giving you strong advice, anyway there have been previous posts on the subject and you might want to do some exploring before you commit:wink:

Also, which size tire would work best... 195/55-16 or 205/50-16. Also, does anyone have the weight of the stock wheels? This is the first time I'm actually buying wheels based on weight, is 15 lbs light for a 16x7?

definitely, you beat me to the post, sorry about that last one lol

how low do you want to go? I think down to 1.5 or so you will be fine with the 205/50/16 but with DF's or Tein S Techs at closer to 2. you will probably want a little less sidewall

I feel if i go with the matte black I will be obligated to take the smoked route with the rest of the exterior

I don't want it slammed or anything. I want the fenders to sit just above the tires.

check out largeorangefront's garage, his car comes to mind as far as running 205/50/16

I think if you went with Megan Springs, 1.5 inch drop and the 205/50/16 you would be just fine

Why are 205's like half the price of a 195!?

brickhardmeat

dunno but if you are not going too low you can run those 205/50/16, more rubber on the road and more cushion for bumps and more filling in the gap:wink:

Hyper black! I choose flat black for my car but really wished the rims I wanted had been available in hyper.

Hyper black for me!

It depends on the brand of tire, but here's what I've found generally to be the case with Yaris wheel/tire fitment up front:

FR, 16x7, ET38, 205's, sidewall may poke out just a tad.

FR, 16x7, ET40, 205's, sidewall may be about flush.

FR, 16x7, ET42, 205's, sidewall may be slightly tucked.

If you run the same wheel/offset and rubber in the rear, then you will be tucked by about 1/2" more in the rear than the front.

In the rear, you can run spacers, or staggered offsets, or wider tires; these are common Japanese fixes to achieve the "perfect fit" you're looking for.

Ok, I am about to make this final! I am going to go with 16x7 +42 and run a 205/50. If anything I can space the front and rear if need be. With a +33 I would have no options to tuck. Thanks for all the input! Oh yeah, Hyper Black FTW! Thanks again!

Apparently the supplier 5Zigen uses to do the special "hyper black" job is shutting down shop and they will be unavailable until around February or so... but lucky for me I ordered up the last set in hyper black from www.e-wheelz.com . Talked with a guy named Vic and he was very helpful, I recommend this company thus far. He even did a price match for me saving about $150 total!!!

16x7, ET42, 205/50 is an excellent choice. That is exactly what I would run given the options you have.

You can always run some good hubcentric spacers in the rear if you're going for that perfect fitment.

+42's will be fine.... those hyper blacks would look killer with the blazing blue.... I am normaly an all black wheel fan, but that would be a nice combo

I really wanted the newer Falken FK-452 tires but I am impatient and didn't want to wait 3 weeks. So, I ended up getting the Nitto NeoGen VR tires. Anyone have any experience with these?

not a big nitto fan, but I have checked them out in a while so they may have some better stuff now..... I am running Kumho ASX's right now and love em, expecially since they were only $67 each mounted balanced w/nitrogen

I've run a few sets of Nittos and loved them: great handling and predictability, and surprisingly good even wear.

Whatever tire you go with, you may want one designed with a rim protector in the lower sidewall to safeguard your cherished alloy wheels against curb rash.
