engine dampener?

Sorry if this was covered, but anyone making an engine torque dampener for the Yaris? Or, do we know for sure an xB or xA one will fit?

I couldn't imagine a Scion damper fitting the Yaris. I would like to see one too, though. Everyone pester DME until they make one.

i am not familar with dampers on engines, but it looks like a poor mans motor mount without the harsh ride. looks like a strut mounted to brackets going to the motor and the strut tower brace.

i am guessing it would give firmer shifts without compramising ride like stiff mounts do, someone can correct me on this, cause i am going off of what it looks like...

Mostly for looks.

A rigid brace will stop the block from twisting with the transmission, thus loosing torque. the block wants to spin with the crank, you don't want that, because the torque used to spin the block would be better used to spin the tires. Having the engine rigidly anchored to a solid part of the chassis keeps it from spinning.

Solid engine mounts are a more efficient means of halting engine movement, but you pay for it in NVH. Solid mounts are a bitch to drive with! Poly mounts are a little better/worse - they aren't nearly as solid as metal, so you get less NVH but on the other hand they still allow the engine to move.

A rigid brace would help a little, but you still have a NVH problem.

The problem with most dampners is that they are dampners, a fluid filled shock absorber. They do nothing to halt engine rotation.

Nop

There is no engine damper for the 2ZR. You probably will have to buy a damper and get some custom brackets to mount it.

The Yaris and the Yaris TS share a few of their engine mounts but the upper one on the right side is not one of them. Completely different form one car to the other.

And even if there are no Dampers available, there are some other options that can be used to reduce the Engine movements.:wink:

found this product on mcmastercar #8644k11 $29, i am just going to fill the trans mount and the bottom one with it. 2 new mounts and this stuff to fill them will be cheaper than a c-one rollstopper mount alone.
