I have to hand it to NST for making some of the prettiest anodized pieces ever. I opened my package today and I was taken aback by that little candy-coated looking SSK. If you got red, you're in for a treat!

Wow! thats a different short shifter (much easier) than the one I installed for my tC, you don't even have to yank the shift knob out of it's housing...
The Yaris is just awesome!

I just got mine and installed it!! wowza!! its nice, with the weapon-r intake it was easy to get under the intake and install it. I even installed it with my work dress clothes on! took 2 minutes! I didnt expect it to be that stiff, its definately harder to push, but in a good way. it is noticeably shorter, I like it!
I concur Alpha Fox...ITs the Shit....Gonna take a while to get used to but its great definatly worth the money...
Did it in 10 min....due to the fact that i was burning my arms due to the heat....:eyebulge:
oh and im glad i got the dragon intake b4 the SSK cuz my arms wouldnt fit without it...

Thanks again everyone for all your kind words, it makes all of our hard work well worth it :)
Be sure to comment in the NST SSK Specs, User Info, etc thread once your pieces have been installed.... Some of your fellow board members have been asking for user reviews. The following thread is a great place for this...

Makes sense, you just shortened the smaller lever arm and moved the fulcrum on a complex lever ;)

Can this be an add on for the interior Short Shifter and will it decrease and stiffen shift throws to another "dimension" (LOL!) I mean will it still make the STS work better?

for those people who installed the product. isn't it that thing just gonna decrease the distance vertically but not horzontally?
I mean just decrease the distance from north and south but not east and west.

It's not the east/west that concerns most people. The only way to really change that is through an actual lever swap, and it's never much...

Yes, because thats the only mounting point your adjusting.
Literally took less than a minute to install. Just make sure all your washers are flat, and your installing the piece perfectly perpendicular to the OEM mount point, it'll stick otherwise :D

They are listed in the US as a business and if they are caught doing illegal stuff they will be fined to death and forced to close shop. Do the right thing and pay the duties imposed by your country. Speak to your country's officials if you have a problem with paying it, don't put your favorite company in a tough spot by asking them to do something illegal. They won't list it as a gift or lower the value.

anyway duty with usps are not expensive.. if u go with fedex or ups.. u add 55$ + dutie.... and at canada post they only charge 5$+ duties

Ok guys Upon Cali's request Iam posting what i did to make this work...Sorry my camera is screwed so no pics but dont think they are needed..
Basically from stock there is absolutely no way the device will sit far enough down so the cotter pin can slide in...So i put my toyota cap on and thought for about 2mins' (as long as can without getting a headache)
I pulled out my dremel and put the following bit on it..(I know but it was the only one i had to work with) http://www.dremel.com/en-us/AttachmentsAndAccessories/Pages/AttachmentsDetail.aspx?pid=562
I basically cut down the bottom side of the blk until i couldnot see any red left..I also had to cut a little off the edges..So now the blk is completely silver on the bottom...I did have to test fit about 4 times until i got it just right..Once i had enough cut down I had to press down on the blk pretty hard and it slid all the way down for the cotter pin to slide..Tested a short drive everything seems fine..took me about 20mins to do this...Maybe NST can look into this and make a ver.2 for us 08-09 owners...
Also 1 thing to point out...I dont think it is the depth of the channel on the blk its the edges that are stopping the thing from resting flat...so someone might try just fileing the edges down instead of the whole bottom side.

Thanks for the write up -- glad you got it to work.
Maybe a thinner version with and without a washer would fit both versions?

Washer doesnt come in play until you are putting the Arm back on..That cotter pin has plenty of room to slide in..

I don't like the idea of spending close to $100 on something thats made for my car and having to shave it down to make it fit. But thats just me. I'll buy one if the fitting problems get fixed.

After installing and running with it for a while, the gears became a bit stiffer to shit into and out of. Kinda like a "dry hump" to get over/into to get into the gates.
Sprayed down the whole NST and gear linkage and top of gear box with WD-40, and it shifts smooth as baby oil.
Are there any ill effects from just whimsically spraying WD-40 around at all places in the car? Avoiding surfaces that get hot, like the exhaust and engine block, can I safely spray WD-40 on everything else without messing up? (nuts and bolts, to keep from rusting)

The new version has an extra bracket to move the cables over as well. Mazilla posted a DIY with pictures on here recently. TRD has them, and I will have our version available very soon.
/topic
As for the above comment, for the record, Chino had good reason to do what he did, and he wasn't alone. At least include enough of the story so people understand and can make up their own minds, instead of just trying to make him look bad.

Thanks guys.
Also I notice there are 4 different shifter additions, the bushing kit, engine bay kit, and 2 cabin kits, do you need to have all four? I was thinking of grabbing the in-cabin short shifter kit but I don't want the car to feel off-balance since it's missing the other three.
the bushing kit just stifens up the feel (takes out the slop) and for the under hood vs the in cabin kit, you can have one or the other or both. I think they both reduce throw buy around 25% or so. some people go really extreme and do both to reduce throw by about 50%
I honestly am going for the under hood kit because it is easier. I hope to make a youtube vid of my install. at the same time, it may be a while since i don't even have it yet (and it isn't available just yet either)
