YamilR

That sucks, care to elaborate on what happened? At least the car held up fine as far as I can see. Now is a good time for a C-One bumper and carbon fiber hood

07-29-2007, 04:33 PM

Airbag still intact....Driver's side first?

Jerkratt
07-29-2007, 05:01 PM
was doing 60mph down route 20 around a turn, in the right lane which was stupid on my part started sliding caught some dirt and spun out started too catch it and then the back end whipped to the left and slammed me into the divider. it drives me nuts cause I've taken sharper turns alot faster on that highway. the cop was cool tho i told him i was going 60 but he wrote "45 and lost control" on the police report....maybe Paterson cops aren't that bad. but yeah

Jerkratt
07-29-2007, 05:04 PM
no air bags went off.... im going to be talking about this also to the insurance guy

Meteorite Man
07-29-2007, 06:54 PM
Man that does suck. Fortunate that there were no injuries. Just some bruised pride.

Just to keep it light....If they are going to fix it...Have the body shop put on your carbon fiber gas door.

Thirty-Nine
07-29-2007, 07:10 PM
Sorry to see that! Hope you get it fixed soon.

07-29-2007, 07:20 PM
no air bags went off.... im going to be talking about this also to the insurance guy

I'am kinda worried since its the second Yaris crash I have seen on this webpage and no AirBag deployed.

07-29-2007, 07:26 PM
Too bad man... sorry that happends, the most importat thing is you`re ok. Wait for the answer from the insurance

brickhardmeat
07-29-2007, 07:26 PM
I think there have been about 5 wrecks in the last month, none of which I am aware of the airbags deploying

I really want to hear the story on this one, looks like he got it from the front side and rear, like no one saw him at all

I wonder if a horn that didn't sound like a schwinn bicycle would have helped?

Chris07LB
07-29-2007, 08:35 PM
Man that sucks!

If it was me, Id beg them to total it.

I'am kinda worried since its the second Yaris crash I have seen on this webpage and no AirBag deployed.

I rather the airbag not deploy willy-nilly. In both cases the impact wasn't hard enough to send the driver's face into the steering wheel or through the windscreen, so why should the airbag go off to send his head snapping back into the headrest instead?

sherryberry
07-29-2007, 09:14 PM
I thought I read somewhere that it will only deploy if it was like head on impact..
and oh man, sooo Sorry to see that man!! hope you're ok. .not hurt or anything, are you?

cleong
07-29-2007, 09:23 PM
Look on the bright side, you can start the order process for genuine JDM Vitz RS bumpers and get the bodyshop to patch up the rest. I'd go for the JDM tail lamps too while I'm at it.

Jerkratt
07-29-2007, 09:31 PM
dont have any extra money lol... i would have to talk to my mom and beg her to lend me a couple... lol dout it will happen...

What a bummer! Sorry to hear about this. Glad you're alright.

Man it seems the people are accident prone when driving a Yaris. It seems we at least get two crashes per month! Okay maybe not that bad but still!

Man sorry to hear about your car. That's a major bummer, she was definitely one of my favorites on this site!

hearing that makes me feel a little better lol. im going to try and convince my mom to get the c-one front bumper and the c-one evo style hood or the seibon lip kit... gotta do a little priceing out here hahaha and make it seem cheaper

black2yaris
07-30-2007, 12:33 AM
Sorry about yer loss ..

let's hope they total it then buy back the wreck at salvage price .. rip all the aftermarket & mods off & start agin on a new one . then off the spare parts on ebay (engine, tranny, seats, any esle that you strip ) parts sell on ebay or even Craig's list for that matter where the listing is free !

At least no one got hurt !

eek..... glad to hear you are alright. Paterson cops are meh...... got a ticket for seatbelt there once. I have never been on rt. 20 even though I live in Leonia (around Fort Lee and Pal Park).

Anyways, best of luck fixing it up, and maybe an excuse to get a JDM bumper brace and new bumper while u are at it.

Jerkratt
07-30-2007, 03:21 AM
gonna try and get my mom to buy the c-one bumper and the c-one evo style hood.... it might be cheaper considering this is still a new car and all i gottalook stock bumper prices...

whooppee777
07-30-2007, 03:47 AM
ahhh ur killing me jerkratt. if i was yo mamma i would b kicking your ass tight now.

Jerkratt
07-30-2007, 03:58 AM
so i did a little bit of math and with the stock parts i have i can atleast save her 857.95 roughly so in theory i can get ether the c-one bumper or the CF c-one hood.. but i dont think she will shell out another 800 out of her pocket 2 get both.. now this is before tax and shipping and what not but i still have to get teh estimat and insurance and see if there going to total or not

Violin
07-30-2007, 07:30 AM
Yaeh... 60 is a little fast for that road but still... did you hit gravel before you started sliding?

If that's not totaled, its pretty close. Your insurance is going to skyrocket.

Sorry bout this, at least you're still walking around.

07-30-2007, 07:48 AM

fu_im_from_texas
07-30-2007, 01:41 PM
I rather the airbag not deploy willy-nilly.

+1. The whole point of airbags are to keep you safe, and in this case, no one was hurt. Sounds like the airbag sensors measured the force, and it was below the threashold to merit going off ...

glad your ok!

Jerkratt
07-30-2007, 01:43 PM
so hopfully hell have th estimate done by tonight.... sigh.....

Black Yaris
07-30-2007, 01:59 PM

07-30-2007, 02:28 PM

whooppee777
07-30-2007, 02:52 PM
Looks like we will have a few more rattles to fix.

THATS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING!

wait wait wait.....the yaris can do 60?

jamal1984
07-30-2007, 03:46 PM
glad you ok man
I think you neeed a new car, get rid of that one, bad luck.

tsportman
07-30-2007, 04:10 PM
Ouch, it hurts to see that damage to your Yaris !
At least you are O.K, but i'm fairly sure that the car will be a total loss...
If it is, maybe it's for the best, because you will never get it back to the original rigidity and finish.
If it isn't, seek the best bodyshop in town, because it looks like a lot of work making everything fit nicely again.
Best of luck !

Kaotic Lazagna
07-30-2007, 04:27 PM
good thing you're okay. but sorry to hear about your Yaris.

sherryberry
07-30-2007, 04:52 PM
so any updates, jerkratt?

Jerkratt
07-30-2007, 07:52 PM
yeah the estimate done by the body shop came to ...$13498.06... waiting for tomorrow so the adjuster can come and give one.. when i mentioned the price to the guy at AIG he was like umm there most likely going to throw me a check. if it is totaled they said i can swap out my parts before they tow it away

ill scan the paper in a little bit when my mother in law gets home.. i dont have one

marcus
07-30-2007, 08:03 PM
dang... glad ur ok... but i feel your pain...yikes..

whooppee777
07-30-2007, 08:04 PM
yeaaaaaa its totaled.

now you get to experience the new car smell twice!

Astroman
07-30-2007, 08:09 PM
Wow, I just checked this thread out. Sorry about your loss but trust me, it's better they toss you a check rather than fix it. Mine was beat up pretty bad and they decided to fix it and it isn't the same car, and the body shop f*cked up the paint and refuses to fix it.

Devine
07-30-2007, 08:56 PM
Sorry for your loss and glad you are OK.

If they total it out, you now know what exactly you want on the next one and will have parts for it!

If they don't total it, don't think of it as bad luck like someone else suggested...the crash could have been a lot worse and you could have been majorly injured...think of it as something that saved you from serious harm and restore it as much as possible back to its badass self ASAP!

Good luck!

Again, glad you're ok

:frown: That sucks, I'm sorry for your loss. My Accord was just totaled 2 weeks ago... on the bright side 3 more weeks until the the '08 S Liftbacks start arriving!

start taking those aftermarket parts off

Jerkratt
07-31-2007, 03:21 AM
ok wait so when is the 08 comeing? any dates specs anything? will the 07 parts fit? if so ill wait the 3 weeks.....

ALY
07-31-2007, 03:33 AM
08's usually arrive in September/October.

black2yaris
07-31-2007, 03:52 AM
Pull anything useable off before they tow it off, get all the TRD stuff off , see if they will give you the wreck some times they will not mess with them if they have to tow it agin . & then they let you keep it ..

TRY THIS ..claim the aftermarket parts as part of the value that they owe you for the car ,they will say No ! then you say this "i'm getting a lawyer" ,they whine & then You say this "let me have the wreck free & clear & i'll not claim the aftermarket parts & they don't have to tow it off "..

.A guy at work totaled his Ford Mustang 'new car' & they gave it to him for $ 500 as he had in his drive way .. parted the thing on ebay & Craigs list made a bundle & then sold the shell as scrap metal for $100

Sabretooth
07-31-2007, 06:20 AM
excellent Idea, will have to remember that if I ever wreck ANY car I have.

Shouldve done that with the S-10 I had wrecked a month or so back. Couldve made a bundle on the good axles and motor... Car was totaled due to frame being bent in the front. But the motor only had Intake damage. Coulda-Shoulda-Woulda.

mikeb25
07-31-2007, 10:09 AM
ok wait so when is the 08 comeing? any dates specs anything? will the 07 parts fit? if so ill wait the 3 weeks.....

The '08's are arriving "mid-August"; even confirmed it at a few dealerships.
All your aftermarket parts will fit. You can also get a tach and ground effects on the S model

Here's the press release from the Toyota site:

The Yaris subcompact carries over unchanged for 2008 except for the addition of a standard tire pressure monitoring system for all models. The 2008 Yaris also gains the all-new Liftback Sport model. The Yaris Liftback Sport features several exterior enhancements, including color-keyed front and rear under-bumper spoilers and side rocker panels, and is equipped with standard features such as driver and front passenger sport seats, leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob, tachometer with amber illumination, 15-inch wheels, rear window defroster, rear window wiper, AM/FM/CD player with MP3/WMA capability and auxiliary audio input jack.

The five-speed manual transmission Liftback carries a base MSRP of $11,300 and the Sedan with automatic transmission carries a base MSRP of $12,900. The Yaris Sport Liftback with five-speed manual transmission will carry a base MSRP of $12,975. All Yaris vehicles arrive in August and the total Yaris average MSRP increases $150 or 1.2 percent.

... I would definitely wait 3 weeks

Sabretooth
07-31-2007, 10:52 AM
yea really, I searched all over the web last night, NOTHING!

I play my BS card on this one, but I could see a dealer doing it as a markup tool, add a body kit here or there...
