I have a very strange issue on my hands. Car is a 2014 Yaris with 1.5 4 cylinder and 4 speed auto trans. France built for Canadian market.
Not my car but trying to help someone out. They hit a pothole and lost the speedometer. It reads 0 at all times. The red brake warning lamp and abs/vsc lights are on as well. The owner has replaced both front abs sensors, the speed sensor on trans and both front wheel bearings in attempts to get it to work, but with no luck. Then I tried the following:
Car has P0500 code as well as C1203, c1336, c1401 and c1406. I have the service manual and followed the flow charts for the codes and circuits, but the problem persists. I manually checked all grounds and continuity between modules and ecm/cluster/and brake control module. It is possible I could have left something out, but everything seems fine.
I used Techstream active tests to check all functions of the instrument cluster, including the speedometer. They all work fine. The same goes for the functions of the brake/abs module. Data shows 0 for vehicle speed, as well as both front wheels when moving. It does show the correct speed for rear wheels.
I’m thinking the abs module is bad, but that’s hard to believe since I can communicate with it with the scanner for active tests... Has anyone ever seen anything similar and found out the issue?
