Well, I came off the mountain (4 lane, 20% grade ) the other day with zero traffic for about a mile to clean her out and I never hit the rev limiter. The indicated speed was just a tick under 120 before I let off. When you factor in speedometer error (which is unknown) and lack of pinging the rev limiter I guess you might be able to top 115 MPH under perfect conditions. Ironically my old Tacoma pickup with 2RZ with hit the rev limiter at 115 MPH indicated with manual and go no further. I really loved the 2RZ power-plant.

It reminds me (yaris) of driving one of my old jeeps. When you get the vibe down then you just go with the flow. The car is pretty capable, but twitchy do to the short wheel base and such. At one time I couldn't imagine zipping along the tree tops at 100+ in a UH-1 (Huey), but it was better then walking.

I definitely wouldn't go 100+ in a stock yaris. With some good 17s and some suspension upgrades it's actually quite fun! Nothing like losing a big SUV uphill going 100

I have taken mine stock with the 15 sport wheels to around 110 and it drove great....braking worked well also...nw I can say there is no way in hell that I would do it with more than a 5-10 mph cross wind...

zipped through Utah for about an hour and a half going about 100mph kept trying to catch this which cobra...couldnt do it...but the car itself felt real nice...it is a lowered sedan with the 15" upgrade alloys...
but then trying to climb the mountins in Colorado was a different story....flored, and losing speed up to the top...a couple of them i wasnt sure if i was going to make it over :)

Mine goes over the 115 mark but never reaches the 120 mark so I estimate 117-118mph.
I Did it with 18'' on and tried it then with 15'' and it was the same only quicker hahaha

My GPS indicated a real max speed of 192kph (119mph). I am using a Garmin Nuvi GPS.
Because I was running a smaller than standard tire, the speedometer read a bit optimistic (200kph or 124mph).
Stands to reason that if I used a larger tire, I might be able to raise the real max speed a bit.
However at this speed, the engine is pretty much close to the redline cutoff, so I would say that is all the car would do given this combination of engine and gearbox.

Once I did with stock tires (14") and 5 persons on the inside... 120 mph
And now that I upgraded my wheels to 17" I´ll try and post it!!!
This has been proven many times before,If your on a straight-away,the limit is 115mph,look at my avitar,115mph governed by the ecu, proven by eco!!!

Yup, a little bit more accurate than the speedometer given the variances of tires we use.
Some would say there's other better options but none are as easily accessible to the average driver as a GPS unit.

Wow, evreybody's Yaris here is so fast. Mine is A/T and after it hit 160 km/h (100mph), look like it won't go more than that, and feel scary already. Maybe because of standard suspension.

Nope...going larger in the tire DECREASES torque at the front driving wheels...you will lose speed.

You're right about decreasing torque. But you're wrong about losing speed.
A smaller tire buys you acceleration at the expense of speed. A larger tire trades acceleration for better speed.
So by using a larger tire, I would be a tad slower to get to 60mph but I can hit a higher V-max before I run out of engine revs.

+1 ... think of it this way... we have more torque to the wheels in 1st gear, but we have a higher top speed in 5th ... larger tires raise the over all gear ratio
Pavel Olavich was probably assuming that the top speed is drag limited... which doesnt seem to be the case...

My Yaris 1.3U-L with CVT transmission:182.8km/h(S/D mode) 190.68km/h(D mode) 2004-made SCP13(previous generation).
According to the rumour, the European editions of both current and previous generation Yaris with 2SZ-FE 1296cc engine, can go up to 126/127mph(about 204km/h);if they are manual versions! This data is well above its manufacturer data of 109mph(175km/h).
Along with it,Youtube shows a previous generation Yaris 1.3 indicates 199km/h on its digital speedo, while its tachometer shows 6100rpm,thus it would mark up to 203.74km/h!!!!(33.4km/h per 1000rpm on 5th gear;multiplying 6.1 to 33.4km/h results 203.74km/h! Let's calculate it.) This number of max speed is about as fast as that of the Volvo S60 2.4(140ps) and the Renault Megane II 2.0(133ps), so the 1.3-liter version Yaris(87ps) would be a kind of giant-killer!

But most people live in the past. But they did look before starting a new thread on it…
When it’s stock there’s an iffy spot about the 90’s but once you kill the 90’s it goes away. With the rear sway bar I didn’t get the iffy spot. Both times I thought I would put a hole in the carpet trying to get it to go faster.

You're thinking of max terminal airspeed for a human body at near ground altitudes. Terminal airspeed for other objects depends on their ballistic coefficient, determined by mass density and shape, and air density. Heavy bombs can and do fall at supersonic speed when dropped from high altitudes. For that matter, a human dropping from a balloon in the rarified upper atmosphere can briefly go supersonic.
Don't know how fast a Yaris would fall if you dropped it out of a plane, but I'd bet 200 MPH wouldn't be way off.

I've driven 196 km/h (122 mph) at the German autobahn with my diesel Yaris.
It was still going but i saw warning lights ahead so stepped on the brakes.
A Opel Corsa cdti tried to go fast too but when i was going 170 km/h it stayed way back.
