View Full Version : As the poop turns... [Goodbye ZPI]

For all intents and purposes, I was done bashing ZPI. They did a teriffic job of making themselves look like morons without me.
I was thrilled to see their prescence here fizzle away when it finally did. It was a breath of fresh air.
However, today I stumbled upon what I believe is the most compelling story ever posted on a car forum. Here is a thread from Scionlife posted days ago that chronicles the EXTREMELY entertaining death of ZPI.

I'm on page 4 and I had to stop to make some popcorn.

You also notice how they had a dyno run of a Yaris turbo on their website, and there was never a dyno chart... just some hip-hop and some graphics that came up.
Then, the only definitive proof of turbo was Mark "Don't Smoke Me" Potts and his 8.7 second 0-60 run (or 0-68) that was so less than impressive. There is some other guy that supposedly got the turbo done at ZPI, but you never hear him on here nor has he ever done a video, photo, or anything else (particularly in response to this fiasco).
So, there you go, I'd love to get a turbo, from a company that is going to be around in the future and actually ship product.
I feel for any entrepreneur, but when you offer product you can't ship, you need to NOT OFFER THE SHIT! DUH...
Thanks for talking me out of donating $6000 to the ZPI going out of business fund, Chino!! Ok, now we need to make our own!

Damn...i knew ZPI was bad on the forums here and scionlife....but the fact that they were so troubled and still kept advertising and taking in peoples money by sponsoring mods to cars in those car mags...like the guys subie in Super Street and also this months MODIFIED mag...the Nissan Versa with Fox Marketing...it had ZPI all over it...that's just plain wrong... misleading the public.
After that article hit i bet tonnes of people hit the ZPI site and poured in lots of $$'s........to them that they won't ever see again....

It's too bad though, it was good in a way to have one company step up and make some real performance products for this platform... I just guess their business practices were not quite so good, or they had good intentions but just could not live up to them, who knows...

It has been like this with ZPI since day one. A few of us tried to warn the rest of you when they first came over here. You guys said we were being "unprofessional" or "insert something else here."
Goodbye poop! Nice not dealing with ya.

Seeing broken crank pulleys was enough for me to avoid them! Thankfully there are forums like this one that help expose companies that do stuff like this.

what happened to the turbo zpi sedan that posted on here???

Nick [turboyaris] hasn't posted in a long time. He owns the car.
Kenny from ZPI ran to Texas. ZPI is no more. Can we all forget that kit ever existed and start working on a real manufacturer in hopes of getting someone new in the game?
Dezod makes turbo kits and they just moved to New York ROCKLAND. Why don't you get in contact with them and shell out the cheese and donate your car so the rest of the whiners can have a kit too?

it sucks when a small bussines goes out like this. plus the fact that they were taking money knowing the situation. is a shame...
when my brother and i closed our bussines all we owed was paid out before we took any money for our pockets. the only people we owed was the credit card machine company which i made an agreement to pay the following year.
sucks that people lost money to some assholes like that. i only bought from them once and i was happy with the service, but after reading all of this is just makes me sick!!!

I was about to buy a Stage1 turbo kit for my tC when this happend... They have a really bad habit of not replying to customer emails before they even run off somewhere.
I like Dezod motorsports, the customer service is awesome and they even like other peoples products unlike ZPI that says (you should've got our turbo kit instead it's much faster than turbonetics : ( )
Maybe if you guys email Dezod alot about a high quality Yaris turbo that runs 200WHP, maybe they'll answer the call and make an awesome turbo for the Yarii!!! ; )

If you think I haven't thought of that by now... haha.
They need a car in their area and an owner with some money. Period. If anyone in NY wanted to step up and fork over the cash for one of a handful of turbo Yarises in this country... call Paul.

Or you could drive to NY, have a turbo installed, and be the first discounted Dezod Yaris prototype kit! : )
Make sure you get passed the ZPI WHP with stock or turbo internals.

I emailed turbochargers.com to say that if Kenny (from ZPI) was working there, I wouldn't do business with them (yes, I think he's that bad).
Kenny emailed me back "Thanks for the support!!" (LOL)
So... for your entertainment, here is my reply:
You broke promises you made to me, and outright lied to both me and my shop. You got married and went away on honeymoon during the time you promised to complete work for me (meaning you knew ahead of time you wouldn't be able to keep your promise). Just one example.
You lied about the availability of the Quaife LSD (it was a payment issue, not a customs issue as you claimed).
Then, I had to threaten to sue your company to get my refund (took almost two months).
You wouldn't return our phone calls to settle the issue.
If you'd like to earn my support now, be honest about that and then start from there.
