I got the 10mm rear spacers on today. Here's a couple before/after pics. Subtle, but it really makes a difference from some angles, especially with the kit on there.

Hey cali yaris,

Looks very good! If I recall, you were running 16x7's, ET38 with 195/50/'s.

So now, you're essentially running FR, ET38; and RR, ET28. Is that right?

Did you use hubcentric spacers with longer bolts?

Are you flush all 'round now?

Ichiba sales pitch...

Wheel Spacers are made from Aluminum/Magnesium alloy. They are incredibly strong and very lightweight. These are hubcentric spacers that is specifically made to each vehicle; will fitted on your vehicle's original hub perfectly without any gap. Wheel spacers move the wheel out from the hub, effectively widening the stance of the vehicle and lowering its roll center. This simple modification increases lateral stability, which in turn provides improved handling & greater safety.

christ! another 10mm or a total of 20mm would put you at +18 that is way too much poke, I think you are poking a tad now but with the extra few mm's from the kit it looks just about right

No... I think he's +38 up front and +28 rear (with the new spacers).

Probably flush up front (but very tight...good he went with the 195's).

Like you, I'm curious where that rear rubber sits now... looks about flush in the photos.

yes, he is but someone suggested he go with another 10 which would be 20 total, I already edited my comment because I didn't want to enter into a discussion over it, right he only used rear spacers, there is no need to touch the front

I'm considering going with 15mm spacers now in the rears

if you overkill with spacers, you might need extended lug nuts depending on your wheels, just fyi. but looks good with the 10mm!

brick, did they come with extended studs? No way I'd run 10mm with the stock ones.

6 threads on the stud is all you need to safely install your wheel

i wonder if the hub spacers from an XB will work with the camber shims.

cali- is that what you used for a spacer or just a wheel spacer

he used H&R spacers www.allsprings.com

Ichiba makes spacers for the yaris also

both kits come with longer bolts, I asked him if he used the longer studs or if he was able to get by with the stock ones but I didn't get an answer

Glad to see you put the kaminari badges on! The spacers look great also!  I'm running a 205/50 with +42 and I'm thinking about doing 5-10mm in the rear.

Right, and how do you know how many threads he has left?

When your wheel flies off at 65 mph, you'll be wishing you didn't skimp and got the longer studs to begin with...if you live, anyway. Why skimp on something cheap and easy to install that provides extra safety?

Hey cm07yaris,

With 16x7's, ET42, and 205/50's, can you tell us how your set-up fits?

It would be a great reference point for those searching for wheels and tires.

Are you flush up front or a bit tucked?

How about the rear?

yes on my rim/tire set up, and yes 38 front, 28 rear, and yes it's pretty flush now.

Last night I piled some adults (maybe about 500 lbs total) into the car, and the rear tires rub a TINY bit over extreme dips and such. Acceptable.

Any more spacing in the back would not work. The spacers came with 10mm longer studs -- I would think any spacer set would provide appropriate studs also?

As for the 'six threads is enough' comment, that's probably worthy of a separate discussion.

I am planning on posting pictures of my setup as soon as I get back from vacation and finish the install. I ran into a few mishaps during the past week or so. I received 3 of my 4 rims last week Thursday and the 4th was somehow separated from the rest. I got the 4th one this past Monday only to open it up and see that it had a slightly bent lip and unfortunately they were the last four rims in that color in the US. Long story short, 5Zigen agreed with my supplier to overnight ship a rim from Japan, I am not at home at the moment so I can't confirm this. I received my Megan Springs on Wednesday and got the the rear setup complete with rims, trd struts and shocks, and the megan springs. As soon as I get home I will install the front suspension and new 5Zigen lug nuts. I am just as anxious to get some pics up for everyone's comments, suggestions, and dislikes! Thanks!

Hmm...if its pretty much flush with the body kit/fender...will you hit it sometimes going over extreme bumps?? I'm worried about this...since the wheels are currently recessed into the wheel well at the moment...

I'm interested in doing this...i want the 10mm spacers as well..any problems with stock wheel setup? Like everyone else i like the wider stance look...esp. the rear.

what offset wheel size are you running now? yes you might have some rubbing issues

cali yaris

There is this fine line where the rim is flush, but the tire angles inward just a little bit and you have the perfect match up. I've got mine where I only get rubbing under severe bumps and only with more than one person in the car -- I can live with that.
Also, the rubbing is into the plastic wheel well, not with the metal fender.

Whew...that's good to know!!
I currently have stock wheels..and tires...going to upgrade maybe next summer..i'm doing suspension mods this year...
I like the idea of the spacers...and how they made the car have a wider stance...looks a bit better too

So i shouldn't have problems with stock 15" wheel and tires right?

again, it depends on how low you go, the offset of the wheels your tire size, all things will have to be considered

I forgot, anyone have pic of what offsets look like on the yaris? I forgot is the higher offset makes the wheel come out more or is that the other way around with a negative offset? Im confused now!!!

reznunt
08-29-2007, 04:39 PM
the higher the offset, the more the wheels go inward toward the car, the lower the offset (and/or a negative offset), the more the wheels poke out.
