Jetta TDI 06 over Yaris?

GOod thing bout Jetta is, well its a diesel so u can easily kick it in biodiesel.

I voted Yaris...I have driven a bunch of Jettas and have not really cared for them as much as a Toyota...just MHO.

i think volkswagen has stopped production of their tdi series of cars because they won't be able to pass the more strict emission standards.

i would rather have the yaris diesel.

i test drove the 2005 vw jetta GLI 1.8t right before i test drove my yaris. the one thing i was shocked the most about was how little room there is in the back seat of the jetta. i also liked how the yaris drove compared to the jetta. I'm sure the new jetta is more refined, but i HATE the new body design.

the savings in diesel mpg is negated by the fact that you have to change the timing belt every 40,000-50,000 miles on a TDI, an ~$800 charge. Plus most all VWs made in Mexico are turds, thier quality is horrible. Just look on the forums and carsurvey.org. My neighbor used to work as a mechanic at a VW place and he absolutely hates them.

i could be wrong,but i think the regulations in some u.s. states are becoming more strict, what i heard is that they are stopping production of the tdi cars but were going to be working on a new series that will meet the new standards, so i assumed they meant worldwide.

Also, you really can't compare the two. Different price ranges. TDI base price is 21,000, Yaris is 10,000. It's comparing apples to oranges.

I just traded my '99 VW Bug for a Yaris. I would never go back to VW! The first few years were fine, but the last years have been nothing but trouble. Something constantly going wrong...

my friend has the little vw, a 98 golf i believe and it is starting to fall apart on him, very expensive for repairs as well.

Damn skippy, what a logical comparison!!!! :thumbdown: In Canada, even a BASE Rabbit costs more than my Yaris RS. Next we'll get someone wanting to compare the Yaris sedan to a BMW 330.

Yeah, I like VW, but I'd steer clear until they get their QC back online. My father -in-law is an automotive dealership consultant, and I heard him confirm that VW is having some major issues with stuff falling apart.

BTW, VW has the best commercials EVER! "Un-pimp my ride"... man, I never get tired of those! :bellyroll:
