Curious about the reasons?

Black Yaris

Well... quite a drastic change! Strange and interesting car to fall in love with. Why not a Miata... it's just soooo much better a car... in absolutely every way!
not quite.... the wife and I took the redline sky, the gtp solstice, and miata mx5, because that was here newest kick of what she wanted...
the miata had the least amount of blind spots with the top up, the sky and solstice were horrable, my wife could not see at all out the back, plus just after going over the cars with comfort, materials, seating position, layout, the miata seemed far superior, the solstice and the sky were in the same price range, but much lower quality cars in our opinion. Plus you actually still have a trunk with the miata.... and the miata has traction control that is not offered on the GM vehicles, which was important to my wife on a RWD vehicle

quarter-life crisis?

Well, if I'm not mistaken that Saturn is essentially the same car as the Opel Speedster/Vauxhall VX220, right? Those are some very good cars, and although they are certainly not as iconic (or reliable?) as the Miata...

I myself almost got one of the new MX-5's (cherry red limited edition straight from japan,) about a year before I got the Yaris. I kinda regret it sometimes, but to think of the difference in monthly payments, I'm glad I went with the little brat

I generally don't care for GM products but there are some that are the exception. THe Sky is good looking car you have to admit. But the Miata does have that edge but each to his/her own. I guess it depends on what you want to spend and how you want to roll!

Good luck! Keep us posted!

I saw saturn and just about fainted haha. i mean, maybe this is different than other saturns.. maybe not. my boyfriend's fam has had a saturn. and then it was dead and sat in the driveway for the longest time. My boyfriend tried to rebuild the engine.. and still having issues. his other saturn he bought came from a crash and he fixed it up but it's still not the same (not like it's ever just the same) but my gosh, those saturns don't want to work at all. or maybe he's just a horrible mechanic.. but I say it's the saturns  I don't get why they love american cars (their other car is a grand am) but ah, to each their own.

I know three people who bought Saturn's, because they were so cheap. Well they got what they paid for. All three regretted there decision. they always had problems with them, and complained of poor handing, no power.

I read some reviews on the Red Line, and most say the car looks good, that's about it.

Good luck with your Saturn.

It's not a because I like Toyota that i'm bias. If GM built a quality car, I would buy one in an instant. But there is more to a car then just looks.

I had a Saturn two cars ago--little problems all the time, burned oil like a mofo, and finally the engine seized up and had to be replaced after less than 40k miles (naturally, right AFTER the 36k mile warranty expired).

The Sky does look kind of cool, I see them everywhere. But it sure would suck to buy yourself an expensive toy to console yourself for a lost love, then have the damn thing fark you over...

However, if you dig, you dig it, no explanations needed.

Hey, if your single though and driving a Yaris, it is a lot tougher getting the average girl in the car for a one night stand. Let's just be honest with ourselves. The Saturn will definately get more poonani in the passenger seat.

That said, I would go for the Lotus Elise!

I love the look of the Yaris, but I did do alot of reading before buying. If the Yaris had poor quality issues, I would have not bought it.

And my other car is an 2000 Echo Sedan with 259 000 kilometers(160935.138 miles), and put only $300.00 repairs on for front shocks and wheel bearings. And that was because I hit a massive pot hole covered by snow. My 3 previous cars were GM's and I put a ton of money into them.(took me 3 cars to smarting up).

Most girls that I know are not car nuts. That doesn't mean they are "stupid". They simply look at a Yaris parked next to a Sky and which car would they want to hop in? Please... a convertible will always win.

I love my Yaris dearly, but it ain't no chick magnet. Which is a good thing since I'm married.

The Sky is sexy, the Yaris is cute.

Now if you were ditching the Yaris for a Camaro or a LeBaron convertible, then I would be asking you to get your head examined.

Come on Kimona, get with reality. Quality is not something you can see, only by research. Most folk look at the Yaris as a small economy car, not as a sexy sports car. I'm not bashing the Yaris at all.

I love my Yaris and I do know quite a bit about cars - BTW.

All the rims and body kits in the world won't make a Yaris look any less of what it is, a small economy car. If you think the Yaris is a chick magnet, then buddy, you are fooling yourself... except maybe Earth Day groupie chicks.

Also, I see lots of Miatas on the road, and they just all look the same to me now, but a Sky or Solstice always catches my eye. Reviews of both have not been all that terrible.

Yaris may not be a chick magnet but if I ever saw a guy with a Saturn or a Ford, I'm always going to have a negative thought about him in the back of my mind. That said, cars shouldn't be the chick magnet.. it should be YOU.. the guy who should be doing the magnetizing. Seriously, if you got a hot car with zero personality, then don't expect anything long term.

I guess I'm old. Young girls may know more about cars now. When I was a teenager, it was the guy that picked up the girl, but the car sealed the deal. If he is single and wants to drive a convertible over a Yaris, hey it can't hurt, right... The Yaris is very cute, and he could catch a cute girl that may come up to ask about it. Actually, come to think of it, the Yaris is much less intimidating than a hot convertible and girls like Sherryberry might come over to comment on it's cuteness. Who knows. Why do you think so lowly of yourself? You need a car to prop you up to the ladies? That's really sad.

And why would you want a girl that is there with you because of your car?

You need to take a step back, and do some introspection on yourself, your life, and how you value yourself.

Sell yourself to chicks with what you are, what you are about and who you are. Don't let a car do the job of a real man.

Man, you sound as though you have zero experience with girls....like a 7th grader or something. You tie what a man drives to his chances with the ladies, and that is plain sad.

If you were a high quality guy, you could drive an old junked AMC Pacer and still get lots of dates!

It's not the car, it's the driver!

By the way, what void do you hope to be compensating for, with that Saturn?

pavel has an opinion yes but there is some truth in what he says sometimes.

I also believe that a guy shouldn't rely on a car to get the girls.. that's just sad. I'd rather a guy try to get me because they like me not because they think they can with their expensive car. I look for personality.. besides, cars can change at any time. I've gone through different cars.. so can any other guy. Any girl who is with a guy for his car or money is shallow and not worth it in the long run. Pssh, in my experience, girls are more shallow than guys.

<Flame on!>
There is nothing wrong with a Camaro, unless your talking about the 3.8/3.1 V6 model, that just blows, watered down versions of any muscle car is just sucky written all over it.

Try and justify why a s2000 is better than a Z28 Camaro Conv. Unless you want the whole tuner car thing, plus with less money you can up a 'Maro to about 350hp with just bolt ons, now a 240hp s2k with a decent chunk of cash can hit 350-400hp But it will cost more.

I am always a deep down Camaro lover, I have been planning what to do with a Iroc Z since I was 16, I almost bought 4 different z28's but after reassuring myself that paying $400 a month in insurance was insane. (My driving record is horrible, plus im only 20.)

I love my Yaris to death, but if someone offered me a 2002 Firebird WS6 trade, if the miles were right. I would give in. Hey, its a incognito Vette, well GTO if you think of it. Plus a WS6/SS Camaro/Firebird has sexy tattoo'd in big letters on the doors!

My next big purchase vehicle wise is going to be a 1987-1992 Z28, for the reason that I want my semi-suped up daily driver Yaris. And my weekend 400hp playtoy Camaro...

Anyway, my 2 cents.

I've had 3 Saturns. All 3 were almost perfect, reliability wise. Very good servicing from the dealer. Only complaint I had with them was the poor Firestone tires they were equipped with. I'd probably still have one if they had a small wagon in their lineup.
