I want to see what other cars everybody else might drive. First car I ever had that I owned on my own was a 1994 Ford Probe GT I got last year, the 2.5L V6 and 5 speed manual. Originally paid $1500 CAD for it, put almost $8000 more into it, and blew a gasket shortly after. Being an all aluminum engine, I figured the heads and block were all warped or cracked or both, so I had to get it junked. Needed $2500 of brake work, too. I got it with 292,000kms and got it junked with 299,000kms. I am still paying off the loans I took out to fix her up. I still plan to get another Probe GT in a few years, but this time I will be sure to research the car more before I buy it. Anyway, one of my good friends shoots for Modified Mustang Magazine, so I got him to take out his cameras and equipment for a day of shooting. Turned out pretty good, I believe. And even though this car is long gone, I still have the bragging rights as having a 15.5 second car as my first.

Also throw in a few video links here, too.
First two are exhaust noise...1st is outside, 2nd is from inside.

This one is having a little fun in the parking lot. Had it sitting for a while with the blown gasket. Decided to have some 8000rpm fun before getting rid of her.

Nice! I love miata's, but even the older models are kinda pricey for me still. I was looking at a 93 miata before I got the probe, but the miata would have been close to $500 a month insurance, and the probe was $380 a month. That, and the added practicality of rear seats and a large trunk made me buy the Probe. When I used to work at the Toyota dealership, one of the guys bought an '06 mazdaspeed miata just before I left. All I can say is WOW. Amazing automobile. The acceleration in it was very surprising. That mechanic has a nice garage of cars...his wife works a great job so almost 100% of his cash goes towards cars. He also has a 2004 Subaru WRX STi that he taught me to drive stick in, a 2007 mustang cobra..I believe the GT500, and has a couple older firebirds and buicks.

yea...my friend has one of them. Just set the exposure time longer on his regular 5mp camera. The non-action shots were all taken on an 8mp digital SLR, excluding the last few shots...those I took myself.

Good looking Probe, enjoy the dependability of the Yaris! Too bad the Probes don't hold up {engines (both the 4 & 6)/auto trannies/outside mirrors (saw your screws!)/door handles (inside and out)}. Stripping usable parts off the middle daughters this week and scraping the rest (engine exploded), and the older daughter is hoping her's will last till she can afford something else (this is her 2nd Probe)...had nothing but troubles. The Yaris won't do that to ya!

Sorry to be a little off topic but the user's garage says it better.

Yea, it was very unreliable, but I still miss her. So fun to drive...I just wish we had the 5 speed in the yaris. Would make it so much more fun to drive.

I've been through more cars than I care to admit. I made a lot of poor decisions (meaning I was poor, and paid cash for most of my cars), and a lot of bad decisions, and never bought anything new until my Yaris. The lesson of Toyota reliability was finally taught to me by my wife (bless her).

In high school I drove a 92 Mercury Grand Marquis, it was a gift from my grandmother. My next car was a 99 Chevy S10, I loved that truck but I was tired of dragging into the shop everymonth. Finally the head gasket blew the same week I got my tax return and was given a promotion at work. My girlfriend and her family talked me into getting a toyota and I fell in love with the Yaris.

7) 73 Caprice Wagon- used to DJ, so it hauled all my stuff

Got married, Wife had 83 Sentra. Car attracted other cars like flies on... well you know. Wrecked
9) 86.5 Nissan Hardbody P/U work truck. tranny (5 spd.) blew 6 mos. out of warranty(new)
10) 74 Volvo 145 wife didn't like after Sentra was totaled

Looking back, I forgot another "mistake" car- 65 Mustang- someone elses project- took 265 out and installed 302 motor. I got real good at changing starters due to a chipped flywheel that ate them up! That was after the 72 Opel GT

From the top:

Austin A35 - the basis for the Frog-eye Sprite. Flying bubble.
Ford Anglia - slow was an understatement.
Peugeot 304 - great car, but rusted fast
Renault 4 - take the worst of the Anglia, and mix it with A35. 'Nuff said.
Vauxhall Viva wagon. Styled like a Yank Tank without the space inside.
Austin Allegro wagon - never ran right, never ran straight.
Fiat 126 - I loved that car, all 600cc of it! Cornered like a roller-skate, flat and fast.

Moved to the States in 84:
72 Karmann Ghia - the most fun you can have i n a rust-bucket.
69 Mustang. Don't EVER get the straight 6.....
Peugeot 505 wagon. Good kid-hauler, boat-dragger, tree-puller.
Toyota van, the wedge-front seat-under-the-driver's-butt version. 2 A/C units. Fun.
Colt Vista. Why?
Honda Civic "Sawn-off" hatch.
Plymouth K-car wagon. Don't ask - it was free.
VW Fox. Another under-powered car that was fun in the corners.
Honda Accord wagon. Would have been better with the 5-speed instead of automatic.
Ford Ranger. wife's truck - mistake.
VW Passat wagon, 2L turbo. Wife's current ride. Better
Yaris LB - my current ride - perfect!
