So what, if anything, does Yaris mean? is it a real word, or something Toyota just made up? It's not in my dictionary. :iono:

The name Yaris combines the German expression "ya," which is similar in meaning to "yes," with Charis, a Greek goddess who symbolized beauty and elegance.
[1] Coincidentally the chief designer for the Yaris is Greek.

Toyota is know to create new words for its cars...so it probably doesn't mean anything. But in a couple of years it will probably become a synonym of fiability and good retail value in the automotive dictionnary! ...like every toyota

Hi,
I thought I would dig this old topic up regarding the word yaris.
The Turkish word "Yariş" sounds like yarish, which translates to Run, Race or Compete.
I think I prefer this to official Toyota reply.

Stick it to the man.
"This color is red."
"Noo, I'm pretty sure its green...
Well, it doesn't matter. Green it is."
