Kendal synthetic motor oil

Searched the threads and couldn't find any mention of Kendal synthetic motor oil.

My local Goodyear shop is offering an oil change for $39.95 using Kendal synthetic oil.

Until now, I've been using regular oil in both my daily drivers (07 Yaris 14000 miles; 05 Camry 80000 miles).

Anybody have any comments or suggestions...?

We had a small sponsorship with kendal on our race car, Turned our engine (small block chevy) around 7000 rpms every race, never blew one up. That was regular oil not synthetic. I can't say for sure how their synthetic is but I can only think they would have a quality product.

I however run Royal Purple in my Yaris.

Is it true that once you change to synthetic oil, you can't go back to regular oil?

That's what the service guy at Goodyear told me.

A Total Myth.

Synthetic oils can be mixed with conventional oils. They are compatible with each other.

Engines running synthetic oils just have less wear and going back to conventional is fine. No damage done to the engine.

Sounds to me like your Goodyear guy wants you to keep using his expensive oil :thumbsup:

Wow...so they can be mixed? Guy at Valvoline place told me this is a no-no, as synthetic + natural have different molecular weights!

Geez, he did not have to go that far, I have fallen for FAR less complex tales. :biggrin:

Only problem may be slight loss of gas mileage....otherwise it's just going from top of the line to average.

Moble 1, Castrol, and the normal name brands that ppl know of are class III synthetics and are dirived from mineral oils, as you said. That is why I get the good stuff class IV synthetics (Redline, AMSoil, Royal Purple, etc), they are true full synthectics and usually are not that much more than the class III's. Many of the class IV oil company claim you can go quite far between oil changes, as far as 25,000/1 year, because class IV full synthictics do not breakdown nearly as fast.
