I was wondering if anyone has any experience painting over chrome.

I would imagine that you would have to remove the chrome layer of at least roughen the surface for hte new paint to have any mechanical adhesion, otherwise it will just come off in flakes.

Got to scuff up the surface first. You may also need to use spray on adhesion promoter, dupli-color makes one.

For an even better looking result, sand blast and powder coat! There are lots of places offering this service. Cool as hell looking too. Durable as well.
Here is a place in Lynn, MA http://www.finefinishshop.com/powder.html
